Fabio Paratici - Consultant

THe only one who looks really dodgy is Gollini, and he's a loan

Emerson could be a top quality RCB - quick, physical, tall enough. Having him and Romero as our two options in that position would be very solid!
You say that but Emerson never played în that position. I think you have fair points în general, but your optimism on that is questionable at best.

Emerson is a 22 year old with caps for brazil. You don't get that for £10m.

Even if he doesn't work out the next couple of years, we sell and get most of it back.

Lamela 29, gil 20. Gil on half the wages and also has sell on value.

Sarr is 19. He might make it or might not. But low wages and can also be sold on.

The transfer fee is only a small part of the consideration. Wages, ability, age, marketability (why vlahovic will not get £300k a week and why ndombele shouldn't have got anywhere near his wages) determine what a player is worth.
Funny because that's what Barca paid for Royal, right before we overpaid.
Lamela could have been sold separately for around 12-15 mil. So that means we paid around 40 mil euros for Gil. A player that MIGHT happen or most likely won't. Like I said, same age as Skipp, and our CM is leaps and bounces ahead at this point.
The way Sarr is looking at this point, he is a huge long shot. He plays every other game at a less than average team and we will probably loan him out for the next years.
I am sure Vlahovic would settle for around £200k-225k/week and Gil, Sarr and Emerson have around that together(Gil+Emerson have 150k together). We can easily add the difference between that transfer money to compensate any wage difference.(£80 mil spent on these 3, to £60 mil on Vlahovic). Easier said than done, but like always, we throw money on slight maybes în years down the road instead of established players or top prospects.
Clubs that rely on hope strategy alone, like we are at the moment, wil not be top teams.

Yes brazil bought him in 2019 before he had any caps for brazil. Before he had a good loan spell at betis.

As for the rest, it's the established expensive buys we've always failed on. The hope strategy got us the likes of walker, bale, modric, berbatov, carrick. The established got us bent, soldado, lo celso.

Playing it fast and loose with the "established" criteria. Most people thought we overpaid for LoCelso and did not expect him to be a star, just a good midfielder. We had to play hope until recently, because no top prospects would come to us. Since getting into the UCL final and the new stadion, helped us raise our profil. Players all of a sudden want to play alonside Kane, Son, Lloris and have UCL games. Due to poor investments în players like Ndombele, which wasn't a highly established player, we lost the UCL time. Now we have Conte and a new horizon has opened up, established players, from Italy at least, want to come here. We should take advantage and sign the likes of Kessie, De Vrij, Vlahovic, Romagnoli etc. because if Conte leaves, this door will be shut again. We will be forced to hope strategy and praise those 3-4 high quality players that turned up from 40 "hope" transfers. We sell them to finance another 40 transfers and the wheel keeps spinning and we remain slightly above average.

Say the other top clubs in Spain, Italy and England get the transfers we needed.
How much would you apportion to Paratici and the club?

For me it's 30% Paratici and 70% club.
Covid or not, money and CL places talk.

What about if we do get the transfers we need. Would the aportion be the same?

I don’t think Patraci would be as responsible as that personally. We just don’t pay the going rate for top notch talent.

if a very talented player costs £60m and there’s two slightly decent players available for £30m we always gamble on the decent ones and take our losses instead of fronting the money for the one who’s almost a guranted success
