So, what happened today?

Didn't get the contract role I really wanted as they said I spoke too much
The interviewers loved me and wanted me but when they told their boss who signed off the decision he thought I wouldn't be what they needed in this role as a listening brief was needed
The recruiter felt that was no reason not to give me the role and pushed back on that, he was really annoyed on the phone as he felt I was the one for that role
I thought you was meant to sell yourself in an interview
I do talk a lot but it's because I'm passionate but maybe I will reign it in a bit for my next set of interviews

agree with @ricky2tricky4city - don't change. I talk loads in interviews too, but think it shows my personality and confidence, if they want a quiet office and people that cannot be approached or engage with people, sounds like a brick place to work.

I spoke with a friend who worked at this company until fairly recently and he said it was a weird culture, very cliquey so maybe I lucked out not getting that one

I'm still in shock after what I witnessed today. I was out shopping groceries, and after I finished, I thought I'd treat myself with a little snack and a coffee, so I headed into a coffee shop and sat down. I got my coffee, and sat there enjoying myself, when I spotted some movement over at another table. There was a man sitting in a sofa, and he had just taken his shoes off, and moved his feet up and onto the couch. Then he continued to strip off his socks.
I thought that was both a bit rude, filthy and just about as weird as it gets, but I had seen nothing yet!
After he'd taken his socks off and placed his bare, sweaty feet on the sofa in this coffee shop, he fished out a pair of scissors and started fudging cutting his toe nails!!
Not kidding!! In the middle of a coffee shop, this dude fudging cut his toe nails!!
fudging disgusting, and I lost all appetite and didn't even finish my coffee and left immediately.
I'm still baffled, and in denial of what I saw, but unfortunately, it can't be unseen.

DT.. the mouthy mug from woolwich TV has got 3 years bird for being a stalking woman beater. Excellent news.
An extremely ironic name for this scumbag.

Arsenal Fan TV contributor DT, has been jailed for stalking, assaulting and kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.
Liam Goodenough, 42, had his initial sentence tripled to three years after his case was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Solicitor General for leniency.
Arsenal Fan TV released a statement distancing themselves from Goodenough, who last appeared on January 1, adding the prison sentence was “new” to them and he had “no place” on the channel.
A news release from the Government said the YouTube star stalked his former partner as she went on a date, jealously sending the victim’s brother messages threatening suicide and demanding to know the location of the victim.

Aylesbury Crown Court heard he used a tracking feature on her phone, and drove to the hotel the victim was staying at and verbally abused her, as well as assaulting her alleged date.
Goodenough dragged the victim out of the hotel room to his car, suggesting he had a knife and that her son was in the vehicle.
However, when she realised that her son was not in the car she tried to escape. A bystander intervened and the victim was able to get out of the car, while Goodenough escaped.
Goodenough was convicted of stalking involving serious alarm or distress, and kidnapping. On November 5, at Aylesbury Crown Court, Goodenough was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment.
He was also handed a restraining order for a period of 10 years.
Following the sentencing, the Solicitor General referred Goodenough’s sentence to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence (ULS) scheme.
Speaking after the hearing, the Solicitor General, Alex Chalk QC MP said: “Goodenough subjected the victim to a shocking and frightening ordeal. I referred his sentence because I considered it did not reflect the gravity of the offending and was unduly lenient. I am glad that the Court of Appeal agrees.”

yeh that surname has to be a tinkle take on his part! Hope he gets what he deserves…

Sixteen inches - 40+ centimetres - of snow here in Toronto today. Traffic and transit chaos. Highways closures across the province and through Quebec and the eastern provinces. Got my knee high, Thinsulate lined Eddie Bauer boots on, my toque pulled down tight and steam coming out of both snow shovels as my son and I dig out the walkways, driveways and kitchen decks.

When he and his sister were kids, we'd take all the snow from the driveway down to the back of the lower kitchen deck and build a huge pile of snow - Snow Mountain! At night, I'd pack it down, cut steps into it and spray water over it to give them a handy slide to play on through the winter. I'd make banked turns at the bottom, one right then one left and they'd end up sliding right onto the skating rink we'd build in the back garden. The kids on the street would often be over after school and we'd have coffees handy for any parents who came over to watch and chat before heading home. Great times. Kids always slept soundly after an afternoon's play out there.

The boy's 29 now and we'll need a lot more snow to make something that would appeal to him now. But good to have him here today to help with the dig out.

That's a hat.

If you're going to make up words we'll have to assume they're euphemisms for your lady pleaser.

When I see words I'm not familiar with, the first instinct is to do an internet search. One would assume it might be the same for yourself, hanging out online the hours you do. It can be such an enlightening process. You should try it. Put the word 'toque' into Google's conveniently located search window and, along with scores of instantly clarifying images, up pops this first response:

In Canada, a tuque (sometimes spelled toque or touque) refers to a warm knitted cap, traditionally made of wool and usually worn in winter.

Colloquially, it's pronounced with a long U sound - tuuk. Yes, that's right, like pronouncing a famous Hobbit family name. It's also used, colloquially, as a questioning remark when someone has acted in an unthinking manner; 'Where's your tuque?'

That's all for today. Next week on Things Canadians Love, we'll learn all about the phrase amusingly misused by Americans - Out and About and we'll discuss advanced techniques for enjoying everyone's favourite summertime activity, sex in a canoe. Until then, keep your elbows down and your stick on the ice.
