*** Tottenham Hotspur v Leicester City*** OMT

El Guepardo

Rafael Van Der Vaart
Where: King Power Stadium, Leicester
When: Wednesday 19th January 2022 - time: 7:30PM GMT
Competition: Premier League

We return to action on Wednesday as we take on Leicester City at the King Power stadium.
A rearranged fixture itself, following Leicester's request due to their previously high number of absentees.
On the original fixture date, Leicester had been missing an entire defence, so perhaps it's something of a shock that they will still be missing Evans and Soyuncu for this match.

We have had the weekend off, after Arsenal ran away scared showing a yellow streak that would see them rival Marty McFly as Biff's weak enemy of choice. Hopefully this will allow our players to be back fresh, and determined to get a needed three points so that we can keep up our challenge for a place in the top 4, and the reward of Champions League football next season should we achieve our target.

Likely line-up

Lloris
Emerson Royal
Tanganga
Sanchez
Rodon*
Davies
Skipp
Hojbjerg
Lo Celso
Kane
Moura

* I have selected Rodon, assuming that he's fit, as the last thing that I want to see is Doherty playing left back. I'd prefer that Gollini played left back than to see Doherty back there.

Let's hope that we can go there, play to a higher level than we saw in our recent cup matches, and come away with the much needed 3 points!! COYS

Tough game, Leicester a bit if a Jekyll and hide team I think not aided by missing players.

think it will be a case if keeping it tight and taking our chances, it feels like we are creating a bit more under Conte but have not been as ruthless, especially compared to that spell we had under Mourinho when we seemed to take a lot of leads with our first chance of the game.

Are Reggie or Sess available for this, otherwise lwb will probably be Doherty again. He seems to not be open to moving Davies out there.

think you are right with the Lo Celso prediction, would like to see Winks and Skipp but again feels like Hojbjerg is the trusted one in there and we may yet see the risk averse inclusion of Skipp and Hojbjerg as I think that’s happened more often than not too?

I hate Doherty out there as he’s too one footed and seems too reluctant to use his left foot. We need a natural player there. Sessegnon and Reggie both have question marks over whether they will be available or not.

I set a central midfield three, selecting Lo Celso as he was selected against Chelsea and seems to be someone that Conte would likely turn to. Without Son, we only then have Bergwijn or Gil as our left sided forward. Neither of which seem in favour with Conte.

A good thing Leicester will be without their best shielding midfielder, Ndidi and striker, Kelechi.

It is a good time to play them although we are missing a few players.

Agree with most of that team, but would expect either Reggie or Sess to start at LWB

There's also has to be a reasonable chance of Romero making it too, in which case you back 3 could be Romero, Sanchez and Davies

Could really do with a win on Weds. 3pts total from the Leicester and Chelsea games and we are right in there still. No PL game for another 2.5 weeks after the weekend so plenty of time to work on things and dare I say it, get any new signings in and up to speed etc. then try and push on.

It’s more a prediction than a desire to see him there. I’d have gone the Davies route if Sess and Reggie are both out, Rodon plays LCB for Wales so less concerned him playing there for us than Doherty on his opposite flank. It’s also harsh on Doherty given his confidence is low and a ten minute run out on the right which also now seems to be the area opposition let’s us have the ball would be better for him.
The Son situ is so frustrating as it’s all down to us being content to rely on both him and Kane being fit for every game. If Kane’s out Son would go central which still leaves us with no reasonable alternative for him. So twice the chance of him missing out and even less opportunity to rest him. Conte has talked up Bergwijn recently but he’s another one made of glass.
Squad feels so thin, perhaps worsened by the number of big money flops / injury prone players we seem to have brought in recently

Leicester have three players away at AFCON, one dude loaned out and a couple of players struggling with knocks.

Can't see anything but a postponement, TBF.

Surely not again. Though after they saw what Arsenal got away with, I wouldn’t blame them for trying.

Their game from the weekend was postponed but I think that was at the request of their opposition.

However according to the below they have the league high absentees atm of 16!

https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php

However none with covid so presumably it cant be called off. Just shows what a joke the rule is though as one of the 16 is ill but its not covid. So if this one players illness was covid it would be called off.

Where is the sense in that!

Plenty of time for someone at Leicester to test positive before Wednesday night. Just saying.

Games are very rarely called off more than one hour beforehand as well.

My bet is 5.32 pm Wednesday, just to make sure all away fans are on their way.

Will this season be extended? As I’m thinking it’s unlikely to finish on schedule with all of the fixtures that will have to be rearranged.

Would be very harsh on us if this gets called off too, 5 games to make up.
Burnley game off now, doesn't look good.
