Coronavirus

Increasingly difficult not to come to the conclusion that we have the worst death rate in Europe (and the fourth worst in the world) due a least partly to the fact that those supposedly running the pandemic response were tinkled and partying for most of the last two years when they should have been doing their jobs.

Unless you live in this reality.

Deaths per capita we're 20th in europe.

Also pubs, nightclubs are open. Full capacity football and other mass events. We have to wear a mask in shops. Big deal, at least we don't have to show papers.

If you read a paper, fact check them. The guardian and mirror are just as biased as the mail or sun.

Is the Passports not a thing down there?

Maybe. Nobody actually checks if they are.

Yeah - wave a Tesco club card or anything at a bouncer and they wave you through. Never once in 20 odd gigs/nightclubs over the past few weeks have I had anything actually scanned, let alone anything checked against ID. It's always been my favourite buttplug.

To some extent it's true. Omicron has been hunting down all those still susceptible. But a group of white collar public sector workers, mostly those without school age children, ran back off to their escape pods again. They are going to get it, whenever they finally re-emerge into society - be that early summer or whenever. So there will be a final inevitable spike.

And this is my biggest issue with all of this.
Your logic may well be correct, but your conclusions are to be frank ludicrous.
10000 hospital admissions a day for even a week is 70000 admissions.
Are there really going to be that white collar blah, blah blah?
The math does not stack up.
Oh and if its 10000 a day then be prepared to be told to stick your arm out, again.

Oh, no - I don't think it will be an issue/anywhere near that magnitude. These will all be 30-65YOs in decent health (apart from being the most neurotic section of society), all well vaxxed etc.

I purely meant there will be a small summer spike in terms of numbers - the last bit of the exit wave. Restrictions extend the cases, they don't reduce them. But it will be insignificant

It really is time they were called out on this.
I have said from the very start that we should be treating them like school kids, show us your working out, not just your answer.
Refer again to the video posted by the dr Campbell fellow, the Netherlands projections for omicron, best case 5000, Middle case 7500, worst case 10000.
Actual, 1500.
Not even half of the best case scenarios lowest point with margin of error factored in.

And what happened to exponential growth?
How wrong has that been proven to be, and yet no one is asking for an explanation.

Yes they should show the working out.

Projections have to be based on certain assumptions. Did they assume that it was as lethal as delta? Did they assume no restrictions would be put in place? Did they assume the whole population is susceptible? Etc...
