Dilan Markanday

Why does Poch get a free ride in this?

Mainly because Markanday only came into the U21s for the 2019/20 season.

I suppose Keanan Bennetts was on his watch. Technically Veljkovic too, but he was pretty much on his way out when Poch arrived.

And all of these youngsters have gone on to become Premier league players? Maybe we overhype youngsters too much? Hows Parrot getting on?

tickle my balls with a feather, i wish i had a fiver for every young player that is overhyped by some fans only to not be the next " BIG THING".

Do not get so tinkled on this one. I believe I was the first to hint on his contract way back. The staff, including FP/AC do not believe he is up to what they want to assure him first team guarantees. Serious concerns about his lack of pace. He trained with the first team for a good while. FP spoke to him and his family. We offered a good contract with loan obligations for him to gain the experience. With a set guarantee they would help him find a club if it did not work out, and would not obstructions in the way. He decided with his family on a permanent.

I would have to agree with this. Watching his cameo earlier in the season, he looked a level our two below our second string.

Well, if Conte isn't convinced that he can develop into what's required, or the player wanted more guarantees than we could give him, then it's best for all concerned that he moves on. Wish him all the best.

Not just conte. Every premier league manager.

Wish him the best though.

But he feel look very quick to me which would contradict those comments

He didn't look very special to me, so I was very doubtful he would make it to our first team.

But as per Windy, I feel we could have got >£5m by loaning him out earlier to League 2 or 1 or Champ and getting him noticed... and after a few loans someone like Stoke or Leyton or QPR or Reading or whatever would pay more than £0.5m for him

Or even loan to Celtic/Rangers/Hearts/Aberdeen or whatever, Prem players always look awesome up there

Correct me if i'm wrong. But doesn't fifa rules mean we get 5% of any future transfers?

Think the rule was brought in to help support smaller nation's clubs.

Who do you think this is on? Dean Rastrick as recent Academy Manager, the 2 years of Mourinho/Santo having no interest in youth development, or a 7 year interlude with no DoF?

All of the above. But it goes to the top right, how to run a football club. We can't pretend this is a one off. It may change now Paratici in, but it stems from Levy and starts at the top.

Let's not forget, we also had several opportunities to shift dead wood but Levy's expectations were too high. Danny Rose being a prime candidate, he was at the Watford training centre but Levy reportedly wanted some extra £ due to some contractual clause post agreement.

Phenomenal business man. brick at football.

Levy set to high fees for Bentley and Gomes as well. The ended up just leaving, same will probably happen with Ndombele.

agree about him not being special, but if he wont sign a contract, then the loan route isn't an option

If we're got a big sell-on % then that seems sensible to me

to Windy's thread though, it's not about them going on to be a global superstar, most in fact, will not.

It's the fact that given a season and a half in the senior team, their sell on value is multiple what we sell for. Let's look at Liverpool:

Jordan Ibe was on the books for Liverpool for 4 years, played 41 games in totality, then went for £15M. Harry Wilson didn't even play for Liverpool, loaned to a whole range of Championship clubs, sold for £12M. Dominic Solanke, 21 games for Liverpool, went for £20M.

Joe Willock at Arsenal, 40 games, £25M. Tomori at Chelsea, 25 games for Chelsea, whole host of loans, £25M sale.

People are looking at this entirely wrong that they've not turned into Ronaldo, therefore it's not a loss.

It's a huge fudging loss. And that's money that should be reinvested into our club, instead Levy's doing fudging deals for houses across the road. People should be furious but instead are oblivious.

Not trying to quote my own work but people really need to understand why this is important. Poor management/board/structure. we lose out.

maybe, or he's just another that wasn't good enough who has gone to a lower league club, we've heard of him because he played some minutes in the first team, how many players at the same talent level didn't make it that far, and ended up at similarly sized clubs without us even noticing?
