Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

Key theme in that list:
Mostly winners and done it at the highest level.
And also, a high high level of brickhousery. Those signings take pleasure in it.
Some would describe Luiz and Rudiger as misses - but no one likes playing against them.
Vidal - a veteran......but he'll eat the opposition rather than lose.
Godin - slow. Doesn't matter....if you can't run, he doesn't need to catch you.

Our squad has a lot of technical talent.
It has zero leadership and zero players that pull the others up when things are down.

Put Skipp straight back in that first 11 Finney! Otherwise good post.

I'm maybe concerned with Romagnoli's lack of pace, especially as we don't have that anywhere else across the back.

Gil over Lindgard too
Skipp is not yet good enough to be starting for a CL level team. He is a decent destroyer but has a heavy touch and you cannot give him the ball when he is being pressed. Very few players have this quality early in their careers and I think he can develop it but if we want to be a team that can actually win the big prizes then we need better right now

Gill *might* end up being a good player for us but IMO at present Lindgard would give us more.... More goals, more assists, more pace, more experience, better ball retention.

.

100% This. It’s sadly lacking in our current line up. How often do you see the team down and an individual geeing them up and pushing them on

I think the key for us still is….
Shifting the brick
There are so many players that we need to leave, and for those players theh need to leave for the sake of their careers…. But I just don’t see buyers unless those players adjust their own aspirations on the basis of how they have performed here
And the money we wound get form those players would actually be sufficient IMO to significantly improve the side with the right kind of conte players
But again, back in reality, who is really gonna want to pay money for Tanguy, or Lo Celso, or Doherty or Clarke, or Bergwein
If we can get £70m for that bunch I think it would be good business
But I’m not sure if that’s achievable
That would be something around £20m for Bergwein whose stock is highest of the group and we have a suitor
£20m for Lo Celso which I think you could get from Italy or Spain
£15m for Tanguy if were lucky
£10m for Doherty which I think is possible
£5m for Clarke
That’s me simplifying things
But that would allow is the money do do the deals you mention above and improve us whilst helping those players were selling get on with their careers
As you say Bergwijn about £20m.... Ajax have already offered £15m for him, I'm sure we could squeeze that.
Ndombele would have to go on a loan I think due to his wages.
Lo Celso £20m as you say.
Doherty I think would fetch £5m
Tanganga - probably £15m (being English adds to the value)
Dele - would still fetch £20m I think.
Hojbjerg - would fetch £15m+
Rodon - would probably go for £15m.

That is why I have picked a lot of free transfers for our signings. We have the lowest wage to revenue ratio in the league so can afford to hike that but don't really have the money available to pay big transfer fees (especially as we've pushed out a lot of fees payable into the next couple of years already).

The jump in league position and level of European competition played in should more than make up for the increase in the wage bill.

What we cannot do though is our usual 'get one out to get one in' type business. We are at a crossroads now and Conte is ENIC's last throw of the dice really. If he isn't backed and walks then I think we could be looking at several years outside of European competition.

R udiger a miss?.... He is one of the best centre backs in the Premier League and was an absolute bargain at £34m

I don't believe a word of that, he knew what he was getting into and transfer budgets would have been discussed before he took the job.

It's two experienced professionals who found enough common ground to sign a contract.

I think we were able to lure Conte because he was getting bored out of work, was perhaps annoyed that he was told he wouldn’t get the united job if it became available, the big wage packet, paratici being at the club and the sweet whispers from daniel that investment could be coming soon, either from the owner or a third party.

Despite the other pull factors mentioned, the last one is obviously absolutely key. Imo daniel has 6 months to get the third party investment or conte is gone.

He will not tolerate another window like the pathetic one we are currently experiencing.

We know what he is like, I am not sure why the question of him walking is being dismissed so quickly

I find it unlikely, but at the same time it would not shock me.

I think the transfer budget 'promised' (in one of those gentleman's agreement type things) may well have been trimmed back due to it looking likely that Conte would achieve European football anyway.

It wouldn't be until the end of the season IMO. It wouldn't actually be a good look for him to walk out that soon and it would actually deter other clubs from hiring him.

Post of the year.
We have good players, but none of them are winners.

Don't even think we have technical talent. Some of the passes and first touches I've seen in recent weeks have amazed me.

I just hope daniel can find the investment after Joe’s latest emphatic NO. I dont think people realise the total chaos that will ensue should that investment not be found.

Conte leaves, fan uproar on a scale never before seen at the club, vitriol for the club and unfairly directed at daniel off the scale with increased physical security needed at lilywhite house and for daniel personally, the club will not be attractive to decent managers (it was already unappealing to people like rodgers and potter last year), kane transfer request, son transfer request, awful squad stagnates even more, if Saudi Sportswashing Machine survive they will overtake us and a league finish around 16th beckons.

No wonder our owner puts himself on a super yacht in the bahamas.

Ignoring the rants about the owners, I agree about implications if Conte quit. Which manager worth their salt would want the job?

You'd have to look for a manager for who Spurs were a big step up (which means they'd be a risk for us) or someone who was prepared to rely on the academy and not signings

The next two windows are huge for Levy
