Adama Traore

So money is supposedly tight and we are going to spend 20m on no end product what so ever. That’s staggering , throwing good money after bad. We have wasted so much money on mediocre players. This guy will be another . Been a while since we’ve signed someone decent in the attacking half of the pitch.

I thought Wolves were giving us 20m + Traore for Doherty?

Blimey if we are actually paying out money, I'm even more against this

You don’t need to be talented to see what a decent player is. Joe averages who have played and watched football since they are knee high can see what Traore does and brings to a side. Not a lot
Not quite.
Joe Averages have seen what he's brought to certain sides. A past and present view.
Conte & Paratici have a detailed future view that we simply don't have the full exposure to. Thinking about what he could bring as an integrated part of their specific plan for our team, coupled with (possibly) how they see him developing and improving under their regimen.

Which isn't to say that Conte and Paratici are right, just that we cannot have the same view as them

I don’t agree with that at all . If you have nil end product the breaking lines and drawing defenders is irrelevant. He gives the ball away or kicks it out of play.

He is a player that I look at and think how did you get to the elite level.

Not really, someone will have to mark him and will make space for others.

You could be right, could be a waste of money

but currently Doherty/Bergwijn are being paid to do not a lot

No doubt Bergwijn and Doherty have not been good signings and that’s my concern our recruitment needs to improve and for me Traore is not it .

Don’t see him improving or developing. Of course they will buy to their plan or what they think and hope to achieve but this guy is a championship player. Not what you want if you want to improve and win things.

The issue is Conte and Paratici have only chosen him because our owner has forced them to target players on page 2 of their list.

And this is because lewis absolutely will not offer any financial support on player recruitment under any circumstances whatsoever. Not even £1.

This is because he has no love for our club or its fans.

£20m seems a lot for Traore considering Ajax offered us £14m for Bergwijn.

Also pretty amazing if we have Conte in as manager and all we can offer him is a couple of loans to be made permanent later.

I bow to your knowledge on this.

Other than Saudi Sportswashing Machine, who are desperate and have cash to burn, has anyway of any note made a signing yet?
What's the panic, it's still fairly early days and we seldom do our business in the spotlight of the media.

I wonder if there's any chance Saudi Sportswashing Machine would take Ndombele? That would be interesting watching him have to put in 90 mins for them each week.

No chance. Howe has said he wants to bring in players he can rely on in a fight.

In terms of getting our players into one on one situations, we work the ball to Royale, in decent space, up against the opposition's fullback more than anywhere else on the pitch. Even with Traore's substandard delivery I think we would get a hell of a lot more joy with it being him one on one instead of Royale. That being said though, Royale does quite a lot of good defending. What we make up for in attacking prowess (and I'm not convinced it is a great deal) with Traore is likely to be more than offset by the poorer defending.

I'm not convinced that Conte wants Traore as a RWB anyway. I think he wants him as competition/cover/fresh legs for Moura.

To counter this argument, how many clubs hoping to break into the top four have so many glaring gaps and deficiencies in their squads?
We have by far the weakest squad so whether others are filling their boots now or not doesn’t mean that our failure to progress any signings is ok.

The squad we have now is nowhere near good enough for top 4. We need to show some ambition to keep our elite manager happy, otherwise we will lose him sooner rather than later.

I know there is this thing about Traore having no end product but have you seen our current full backs crossing? He cannot do any worse and the one thing he does do is scare the brick out of opponents and takes them on successfully. I think if Conte wants him we should trust him £20m is nothing nowadays and will probably get £10m for Doherty.
