Emerson Royal

Be good to see that overlapped with where son was for the game
Every time I looked he was never in the box so we we’re always one short for the crosses
ill Also add that as crap as the crosses we’re they were never challenged by us when defending them
He had a few decent crosses out of the bunch. Some to good areas and with decent pace but like you say we never attacked them, making some of the crosses appear worse than they actually were. It's clearly not the strongest part of his game, but he has decent delivery, better than say Walker. Probably on par-ish with Aurier but need to see more to determine that exactly.

I think he is delivery is weak myself but it won’t matter if it’s left for defenders to deal with so easily

I am surprised at some of the criticism he has got from some fans, he has not set the place on fire( yet) but he has done ok in the time he has been given. Still only 22 and should improve as he goes on.
What do you wake of his deliveries and his crossing?
I think defensively he is very good
But attack wise he lacks decisiveness for me

As far as i am aware he has not really played the attacking fullback role before he came here, i think he is young enough and with more time could/will develop that part of his game. As i say he is only 22 and he seems keen to push forward and under Conte i am sure he will improve that part of his game. At least i hope so.

Are cross any good for us,? Do we have anyone who is good at heading them? I think a pass between the keeper and defenders are more dangerous and waste high crosses are a bugger to defend.

Tbf when it's 10 v 1 in the box it's difficult to get the cross right.

Even more so when you take time to control the ball and assess your options

Even more so when the opposing defender knows with a high degree of certainty that you're not going to attempt a dribble so he can focus only on stopping or hindering the cross.

Crossing is a very low percentage attack at the best of times. It's extra low against a packed defence. We need better crossing but we also need more variety of attacks. Play Trippier instead and I doubt we have much more joy.

Exactly.
If the crosser takes a touch, steadies himself, looks up to check that the penalty spot is still where it usually is, and then lofts a slow ball up in the sky, the 7 defenders will repel it.

If a crosser trusts himself and just wangs a ball in hard between the keeper and the penalty spot before the defence can get settled, they will struggle more to deal with it.

Emerson is still young and needs time to get used to playing in a new country but seems that his attributes (rather like Tanganga) make him a more natural fit at RCB for Conte than RWB.

I don't believe Conte is naive to think that wing backs can unlock 10 men defence in the penalty box. Until he gets the right players and movement to open up space in the penalty box we can't assess our wing backs objectively.

Imagine a prime Eriksen in the midfield that forces the midfield to close him down... Definitely makes any wing back job easier. During those times even Davies looked great at crosses.
