Cristian Romero

Yes, probably an overreaction on my part! Just tinkled off he’s barely played for us and his 2 excursions with Argentina have both had very negative impacts.
I think it’s too early to judge him as a player though he looks a bit reckless to me so far.
I doubt if he’ll be the “gamechanger” like Van Dijk that some people were hoping for.
I hope to be proved wrong.

Argentina situation and injury tells us nothing about how he will do in the future.

Van Dijk cost close to twice what Romero cost, was PL proven and quite a bit older and more experienced than Romero when he signed for Liverpool. Has been widely described as the best CB in the world.

Romero could fail to be a game changer like van Dijk and still be a massive success.

Romero is a bit reckless. We signed a young, somewhat reckless player. You can be a young and reckless centre back, be great, and become even better.

It is early, I agree.

I agree Van Dyck had a couple of seasons with Celtic to build his confidence and pick up experience of British game followed by time with the Saints. I do remember Kane making him look a mug in a couple of games before he moved.

So, five and a half years on here, 290 posts. That's less than 60 posts a year. Maybe five a mumph. Once a week basically.

You need to be proved right a whole lot more and a whole lot more often before hoping to be proved wrong.

It’s a testament to Sanchez and Dier (Davies has been great but Romero wouldn’t affect the left side) that we haven’t been constantly talking about how we’ve missed him. Look forward to seeing more of him, but our CBs have been doing well in his absence nonetheless….
Sanchez has had 3 very good games now on the spin
He has had some issues at Watford away so I hope he has a stormer there bext
