Steven Bergwijn

Would sell Bergwijn. The money from him + Doherty for Adama Traore. Emerson and Traore would give us great options for that RWB spot.
Nuno is no longer the coach an so most likely any interest we may have had in Traore has gone as well. This team lacks goals and creativity and you want to add another blunt attacker. Wtf! [emoji30][emoji1787]

Adama Traore is the epitome of a headless chicken that can exploit teams with speed but rarely can punish or capitalise on his endeavour.

He has the finishing ability of Sissoko, the pace of Linford Christie, the footballing brain of a conference player. I don't know why people laud him as some sort of player that we need, as there are soo many more players in the world that can do a job for us for the same sort of money.

We have a similar unpredictable player in Moura anyway. We need more chickens with heads (er....maybe).

Is this another jumping on the bandwagon scenario about a player? Do people actually watch him or do they just go by stats? The amount of chances he creates for his team mates is very good, not his fault they don’t finish them. Yeah he cannot finish his dinner but creatively he is better than what we have and gets people on the edge of his seat when he has the ball. He created 2 or 3 good chances for his team mates against us.

Have you actually looked up the stats on Traore? He's terrible - in 152 premier league games he has scored 7 goals, and provided 14 assists. So 0.05 goals per game. Vincent Janssen scored at a better rate than him (check - I'm not making it up!)

Vastly overated player and one that struggles to get regular starts in the Wolves side.

Please stop with the patronising. Do I watch him? I watch enough football and enough of what I see of him to make my own opinion on him. The stats may come into play to validate my thoughts, but never seen his stats as per se.

His wolves team mates are no slouches and have an eye for goal, he certainly doesn't.

That got me thinking. Perhaps that's the next trend.
Identify the best headless chickens in Europe and let chaos reign. A perfect contrast to the robotic, drilled pattern play that appears so successful. To break that mould go to the other extreme.

Bare minimum, it'll be entertaining.

A front 3 of Traore, Bolasie and Sterling. With Wanchope as forwards coach. It would be quite a sight!

Could be a good wing-back.

But I suspect Conte and Paratici are looking at ways to raise money for purchases.

I'd be reluctant to move on from Bergwijn...he's young, keen and looks very trainable. Has a good base skillset that could be improved upon.

But if we don't need too many wide men then perhaps he's seen as more dispensible than Moura. Which, imo is a mistake.
See Contes comments in the match Brentford match thread - doesn’t sound like he’s done with him.

You don’t play for the Netherlands and have Ajax chasing you if you aren’t technically gifted. He has his critics here, but technically he is a very good player - he rarely gives the ball away. I think some were expecting him to be more explosive, but that might take time and building his confidence. He is young, and had injuries here too. Conte wants to see what he can do, and he he shouldn’t be written off….

I think it's all confidence with him, he's always come across shy and nervous. There's a player in there, if someone can sort the mental side. Though at the minute he's a very long way away.

I think you always have to give players from lesser leagues time. We thought he was rapid and explosive, in the eridervisie maybe, but the premier League is the ultimate step.

Although he scored that great goal against City on his debut, I always remember him trying to foot race or get beyond Walker and his eyes were opened:)

Moura is the better player but 5 years older too. So you’d expect that.

Bergwjin looks like he’s confident but I think more than most he actually lacks confidence and it affects him in front of goal. He’s not a player who can rotate in and out. He needs to play off of confidence and build a run where he’s playing well. If we can’t offer regular football it is better to convert him into cash.

I agree he can be a good player. He can finish it’s just he rarely does. The potential is there but we have too many players like that and we need to convert them into first team starters.

Like a reverse version of Overmars against a very different Walker?

TBF, there really aren't many wingers who get one over on Kyle Walker these days. But you're right in that Bergwijn hasn't shown us anything like blistering pace -- neither over 10 yards nor 30.
