Nuno Espírito Santo - Sacked

Wow United were really poor. We even had 9 shots against them in a 3-0 loss.

Amazing how stats in isolation get manipulated and spun. Suddenly, we had 9 shots against Man U when people want to kick Ole. The big headline from that day when Nuno was getting kicked was that we didn't have a shot on target. Not one pundit or media outlet mentioned 9 shots.

I think the last few games have also shown what most of us suspected. Had we scored first against United, they would have crumbled. Then Conte would probably be at Old Trafford and today would see Nuno in last chance saloon.

Oh definitely. I was being a bit flippant as I knew we didn't have a single shot on target. [emoji28]

United must feel pretty stupid that they didn't sack Ole when a high quality, credentialed and importantly available coach was kicking rocks out of a job. If they had stuck to their guns and kept until the end of the season then fair enough, but to just sack him 3 weeks later makes them seem very short sighted and reactionary.

I'm surprised they won't be appointing anyone permanent until the summer. Wonder have they identified someone who will be available then?

A lot of talk they are still interested in Poch, Rodgers and possibly Ten Hage, none of whom are available right now.

It's going to be Zidane

If so, should happen pretty quickly, he's not doing anything, and United should have been working on it for months.

United have handled manager recruitment incompetently for quite some time though, they could have had Poch and Conte in the last 2 years but sat on their hands.

Yep but they wanted to give Ole the chance, until recently they really all believed in him and they had a very very close relationship across the board.

And Tuchel.
They spoke to Klopp also before his Liverpool move but put him off with Woodward's comments about trying to make United akin to DisneyLand. Klopp thought this guy isn't serious and declined any further talks. A few months later Liverpool went in for him.

Neville is of course spinning that Man Utd would never have taken Conte even if he was available as he wouldn't have fit the club

The official statement says they are appointing an Interim Manager till the end of the season...

They are Man Utd, they won’t get back to where they belong until they start behaving like they should be there. Pick a manager and go and get them, up the money until they say yes. Don’t wait for the summer, do it now, nobody will turn it down if the offer is right, it’s the biggest job in football*.

*On a par with Madrid.
