Urgh. That is vile. The article says his burglaries preceded the DNA database which gives me hope that there genuinely is a proper DNA database nowadays with all police forces sharing information across borders. Situations like this make me want lots of cameras and a general DNA database where everyone is known, but I don't want to trigger Scara off on another rant.

Funny you should mention me here.

The two posts above have had me wondering why people care so much about corpses. Seems a strange thing to do.

I believe you voted for Brexit, which makes this sort of cooperation fiendishly tricky. Unless you mean across force boundaries, which does present challenges, not all of which have been resolved.

Beyond the fact that his list of charges went way beyond the stuff he did with corpses, I'd suggest looking at your own nearest a dearest and wonder whether if they were the corpses in question you would not 'care so much' then.

When my family are corpses I'm going to have them burned, like most do.

There's a good chance they'll be in a mortuary, as were the corpses in this case, before you get to do that though.
Of course. It just seems a little strange that people care about what happens to ex-person meat but are happy to burn or feed it to worms.

If we care about what was a person, what about when those atoms have been digested by worms and some become part of a tree? Should we be upset if Chich comes along and puts bits of him in bits of that tree?
