January Transfer Thread - it couldn't open and close any quicker

Paratici and Conte know EVERYTHING about the top players in Italy, and their contracts, so I think you guys are correct to say we will pluck a few gems from Italy.

Hopefully clever deals, there are lots of cheap players (near the end of contract or club in desperate financial situation) for us to plunder. Rather than flopping out huge money on one player.

Juve are in massive debt and a deal could be had if they lower the transfer fee which would allow us to pay some decent wages or even throw Ndombele into the deal to clear some of our wages and bring the fee down further still.

Vlahovic and Kane could be like Shearer and Sutton back in the day, both strikers in their own right but formed a formidable pairing. Kane these days has been dropping a little deeper and that could allow us to have a lovely dovetail. Two big athletic strikers would be a handful for any defence.

Bastoni would be a good alternative to De Ligt but De Ligt is pure class on his day.
 
Wonder if the Conte and Paratici combo could pry someone like Chiesa from Juve. That would be a brilliant player to have.

Would be - versatile and a threat, and preferable to Vlahovic. I'd be amazed if could land him though

I’d prefer Vlahovic. But that’s not to say that I wouldn’t want us to sign Chiesa.
Vlahovic has been incredible for Fiorentina and clearly has huge ability. 14 goals in 17 matches this season I believe. Get rid of Kane, and bring in Vlahovic

We not paying the €100m they will want for Chiesa. We also have son who plays a very similar role
Vlahovic is a priority for us as goals are in short supply
 
It’s creating the chances that are the problem. Maybe a change of system will help that but still feel we need another creative player. Just don’t see ndom or lo celso serving up chances on a regular basis

Pushing the ball into key areas quickly with runners counters the need for a creative type player that sits on the ball and tried to unlock defences.

I think the minute we buy a creative player that we solely rely on makes us easier to nullify if overly reliant.

One player in the Eriksen mould is not enough, I am in 100% agreement. But you want a combination of the two. The best teams move the ball quickly and progressively but they also have real creativity and quality in the midfield and tight areas. That is what we should be aiming for.
 
Let’s just hope we sign a striker in January. Wouldn’t be against the lad at Blackburn. Could see him playing well with either Kane or Son in 2. Also sure Levy would like another market, Chile to tap into!

Agreed. We need a lock-picker but also tactics and movement that generally are creative and get the ball into areas where we are dangerous to the opposition.
It was stark how static and hesitant our movement was in the final third on Saturday...

IIRC Conte typically had a soild middle two in Kante and Matic and then the creativity came from the wing-backs and Hazard/Pedro/Willian making lots of moves...i wonder if he'll try and replicate that here..
