January Transfer Thread - it couldn't open and close any quicker

Speed and workrate are two of the things that seem most consistent with Lucas. End-product, successful passing, correct decision making...not as much.

There's a reason that Mourinho said that Moura was exactly the sort of player that teams need
Pretty much exactly like Victor Moses was. Hard working, but ineffective. And he became an absolute beast under Conte.

I think that would be downgrading our creative and ballplaying capabilities, which is the last thing we need. We have to use this change in formation to try and get two proper passers into CM. Swap Lo Celso for a like-for-like if there's one we prefer e.g. Barella, but not someone where we net lose creativity.
Kessie for Lo Celso wouldn't lose us net creativity at all. It would gain us creativity IMO.

I think Conte will want to play one deep lying playmaker (Brozovic type), one box to box player (Kessie type) and one more creative player (Eriksen type). All three will have to work very hard however to stay in his team (the three I mentioned there all do).

Hmm, that HG isue.. can anyone think of any British/HG players that Conte might ask Levy to sign in January or the summer?
Ignoring Europe this season (its not a competition that every player would be demanding to play in anyway) we only have 13 overseas players in our PL squad so can sign another 4 without have to lose any.

I think Lloris may fancy sticking around for the ride so that would mean binning off Gollini for Johnstone, which would be a smart move IMO.

Story as it, he has £100-£150m in jan, to buy players, not who, but what position do you think he will get reinforcement in, I think striker and center half. Between £50-75m each.

So one has to ask: why did we go for Gollini? A sweetener to get Romero over the line??

Reserve GKs need a specific mental profile. Our successful ones - Gazzaniga, Cerny, Pletikosa etc. - all had it. Keep the training fresh, don't fudge up when you are called into action, know you aren't going to topple the #1.

Wonder if that includes outgoings.

Knowing what a slippery character Levy is I imagine it does.

Vlahovic £50 mil
Romagnoli*
De Ligt £50 mil
Kessi*
Brozovic*

* (contract expires in summer, could get him in early for a small fee)

Shift Dier, Ndombele / Lo Celso, Moura, Davies.

What happens when we qualify for Europe next season?

de Ligt is out of our league wages wise I think and really, would he join us from Juve? I saw some links with Bastoni and he'd have been at Inter under Conte, and is also young

I know we have all the rumours about Vlahovic, but if Kane gets his head straight and commits due to the big spending, is Vlahovic the CF we want? Isn't he more a replacement for Kane, rather than partner? I think we'd want someone who could partner Kane and also partner Son if Kane is out/rested
