*** The Official Boxing/UFC/MMA thread ***

He was claiming his ring walk costume tired him out last time lol, expecting Fury to win but Wilder always has the chance of a KO.

Amazing fight glad I got up and watched it
Fury was immense
Shame Wilder was a penis at the end, he has no respect
I did love it when Fury called him a dingdonghead before it started hahah

Wilder just looks so gassed and wobbly all the time.

Fury wasn't his usual lively self (physically he didn't look his best), in the last fight the speed and combinations are too quick for Wilder to process. The extra weight slowed him down a bit tonight.

Fairplay to Wilder though, even when in trouble he would still surprise you and start firing back.

Fury is a fighter though, and can work things out on the fly. Why did Wilder keep rotating towards Fury's right hand (these are basic mistakes)? As Lewis said on commentary, lifting weights just isn't a difference maker in boxing, probably the opposite.

Great fight though, plenty of jeopardy throughout.

Because he gets hit. From about halfway through round 1. From there he's taking punches.

Yes and yes. When Fury had Wilder after the first knock-down he lacked the fitness/composure to finish Wilder off. Needed to step back and pick him off, but he was gassing. As outstanding as Fury's boxing is, Wilder's staying power was herculean. An Ox. He could have come back and almost did. If Wilder could defend Fury and tire him out, he'd have had a better chance.

Yes. Wilder (like Joshua) is not as good as picking punches as Fury. They know it, and it somehow affects their confidence. Usyk and Fury land more punches. Joshua and Wilder can prosper but they have to be able to box like Lennox Lewis did - be defensive, ensure you don't get hit, tire your opponent, and pick them off with jabs. It is far less entertaining though. And Fury may we'll find his way through anyway. Cracking fight.

It's amusing and amazing to watch Fury box so well whilst carrying rolls of back fat.
Shows that in heavyweight boxing you needs weight
Last tow big fights the lean mean fighters have lost (although usyk isn’t fat and was lighter)
Unless you can back up your lunch with something (wilder) or can’t really with a technical fighter (aj) your actually not that great as you appear to only have one way of fighting

the slow mo of Fury being tonked by Wilder was hilarious- you can see the energy of the punch go through Fury’s head and roll down his torso fat!

How he took that and fought on I don’t know. Would have probably poleaxed or killed a smaller man.

Fury has always been chinny, just his style sometimes, I remember the fight he had vs. Cunningham years ago, got put on his arse big time but managed to get up and batter the fella, his recovery skills are unmatched, very clever with count.

it's that gypsy blood. Can't knock it out.

Great fight, everyone thought it was over in the 4th, Wilder on his arse, then Fury down twice in the 5th was just mad. Some of the best few rounds in boxing that.

Fury though, is almost unbeatable based on current heavyweigh quality. Apart from the gypsy blood in him, he's fudging massive. He's go-to move is to drop on his opponents like dead weight. Imagine keeping on your own feet then lifting someone who's 19 stone too. Wilder is huge at 6"7 and Fury even smashes that.

He can beat Usyk as the sheer size makes it an almost mismatch. AJ wont beat him either.

After watching that fight I can't see AJ wanting anything to do with Fury
He would get destroyed and totally shown up for what he is
He isn't as big a puncher as Wilder so even if AJ hit Fury I can't see it troubling Fury

Fury is a perfect fighter for his weight it works for him
Wilder bulked up and for me looked gassed after the 1st round
AJ has tried experimenting with his weight before and being heavy didn't suit him
As you say Usyk as good as he is would get swamped by Tyson and his massive size

Reading that Fury might have to fight Whyte next as Mandatory WBC
He could do that around the same time as the Usyk/AJ rematch then the unification fight could be next September
