Avg world ranking for US team was 8.5 and avg world ranking for EU team was over 30. This result was entirely predictable, doesn’t really matter who the captain was.

need to find some players down the back of the sofa somewhere.

The 6 and 6 really helped the US
Europe only being able to pick 3 didn't work, we need to go to 6 and 6

Won't make much difference if you're picking your mates.
One of poulter or garcia, not both, for instance.
Even though i suspect that those two have won more points than most of them put together.
Westwood and casey, casey must have a terrible record and westwood only got a point yesterday because his opponent wanted to get off.
The whole set up needs looking at.

Getting fitted for my irons and putter next Thursday

I told the bloke I don't need a driver so I'm getting an upgraded electric trolley instead

Buzzing !!

You lucky bugger.... Was that one of the 'Golfstar' competitions you won? I blew about £80 in a month last year on them when I was in the market for new clubs.

Absolutely cracking prize, well done.

I was gonna say... probably the last thing a golfer needs is ANOTHER entire set of new equipment, surely you have all of the above already pretty much?!
The 'fees paid' thing is great, that is really helpful... reckon they should throw in some lessons and a home-projector-setup thingy e.g.

Played this morning
New swing really working well, didn't miss one fairway with my driver
New putter and wedges were spot on too, managed to shoot +4 my best ever score !!!
Buzzing, but shame it's the end of the golf year for me

Playing in a society day tomorrow. Was supposed to be playing at Woolston Manor. It’s out in Chigwell. Due to the river running through it and flooding last weekend they’ve moved us to a course called Blake’s. Looking at pictures and reading few reviews I’m a bit disappointed. The former looked like a nice track. Blake’s looks very meh.

It’s nothing special that’s for sure

I’m really disappointed . We’ve played some nice courses this summer.

To move us to there is a bit of a Liberty. Not the society it was Woolston manor. Said take it or leave it . Suppose a days golf is better than working.

Blake’s was ok. Nothing special. Was a good day out , better than working.

It was in good condition I’ll give it that. If anything Teeboxes could be better looked after.Other than that all good.

Hardly surprising that a shot from 225 yards is far less accurate than 125 yards!
One is "whack it vaguely at the green with a wood" and the other is "aim at the pin with a wedge".

Anyway, it is dumb to imply it is always wise to be aggressive off the tee. That is just machismo. It is SOMETIMES a good play and OFTEN a bad play. Depends entirely on bunkers/trees/everything basically.

Putting it in yards they are saying
A 5 handicapper averages 19 yards proximity from 125-175y i.e. 0-38 yards which is... a lot. For a 5H. What about a 15H like me?!

Interesting comparison of the latest Drivers, versus the same brand about 5 years ago

Basically the same distance etcetera, pointless to upgrade unless you value a few inches (oo-er)

Ouch,
I've played carnoustie, with the stands up for the open, kingsbarns and the castle course.
Not that long ago carnoustie was £80, (within the last 15 years), its now £270!
Kingsbarns did do a deal for sgu members £250 for a fourball. Its now £350 a head!
Both great courses, but fudge me, i'm really going off golf.

True story about carnoustie, I've played it three times, always in a howling gale.
Last time we played it £125 a head. On the side of the score card they give you time per hole. We got to the 8th, 3 mins behind the time, right behind the group in front and a hole and a half in front of the group behind. Ranger told us if didn't quicken up we would need to get off!
Hardest course in the world, in a gale and they time you.

Should have asked, got carried away with my rant, are you booking this?
I'd love to play the old course and would consider paying a fair chunk to do it. Don't fancy doing it with strangers though and most of my mates wouldn't be up for it.
The old course and muirfield are the only two open rota courses in Scotland that I've not played.
Muirfield is a bitch to get on, but there's a hotel next door that can sort it out.
