New music?

Sault :

Heard these bigged up on BBC radio 6 recently - BLM themed lyrics, quite soulful and electronic in sound, very good and worth checking out.

They're a great collective...don't really do any publicity. Think 6 music just named it their album of the year (or it might have just been Giles P?)

It was the Giles Peterson show last week where i first heard it - think it was 6 music as a whole naming it album of the year iirc but couldn't say for sure

Think all the presenters were naming their album of the year and then Sault came out on top overall.

Love 6 music...it's the only station I listen to. So much variation...all genres...old and new

Here's a new xmas tune for you from Chas Hodges
That Magic Time of Christmas

This nudged me to have a little YouTube trawl of some Chas and Dave offerings. I don't think many people realise how musically talented the pair were (thinking they were more a novelty act). Song writing and arrangements they were first class at.

Check the Sideboard Song in the 'knees up' video below...amazing vocal arrangement. It's the first song .

All the video's and piccys from my 40th came up on my social media the other day
Was amazing to have Chas play at my party

The new Pinegrove album (which is a reworking of some of their old songs) is one of the best things I’ve heard in a long time.

There’s quite a cool wee film on YouTube which accompanies it; basically them playing the album live in their studio-come-house.

I have to say, this spoke to me more than I thought it would. Worth a read.

The case for music.gov

Only skim read but I think it's an interesting topic - and one that's probably more to do with the internet itself than music industry specifically. How do monetise something that can be ripped and shared so easily?

I think maybe there's room for a platform that has the smaller independent artists just starting out in mind, that will give them a much larger share of the profits - example, I find myself more inclined to pay for rental fees for indy movies these days, through websites like BFI & Mubi and I think that's partly because I want to support the industry at an independent level - music doesn't yet seem to offer the same way to support/consume the artists at that level

Ok, so new music from an old band. The Stranglers new album is excellent in my very humble opinion. This is a song featuring Stuart Pearce in a James Bond type role :D:

I was listening to some 70s Slade earlier! "How does it feel" and "Everyday". Very pleasant indeed.
Then I brought myself bang up to date and listened to some Dinosaur Jr from 1987.

That Stranglers song sounds just like the Stranglers. I found the video very off-putting with Psycho acting, being chased by middle aged parkourererers
