Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

start a veganism thread and we can discuss more. Otherwise you’re just the same mundane, middle-aged, insecure chap that frequents the internet whining about things that don’t fit your tiny world view. I know you don’t like social media but you’d really fit in on Twitter. You can even add little flags to your username and everything
Veganism isn't a serious enough subject to get more than the two of us discussing it. Seems little point in starting a thread for it.

I know where you live is backwatery, but you’re really not paying attention if you think veganism is a little fad. It’s wonderful being a vegan in proper places now. Even today, just announced a fully vegan Pizza Express in town :)

So you are advocating a plan that results in a significant cut to the cow population?

CowHitler.

Absolutely. Cows being bred into an existence where they are enslaved, forcibly impregnated and die in a horrific manner is a much worse option. Keep shouting into that wind.

We definitely should, or at least eat more plant-based products and less meat, but the ample supply of fresh high-quality cheap meat doesn't help in that regard. I imagine if there was close to price parity options for meat alternatives, either plant-based meats or clean meat, then that would have huge market ramifications. But we are not there yet.

What do you mean by clean meat? Like the substitute products such as Beyond Meat?

Which part do you think doesn't fit? The bit where you don't think people would still want to eat that food?

If so, I disagree. The human brain is excellent and compartmentalising and rationalising. It's incredibly simple to just not think about someone you don't want to think about - like if someone you know dies but you've got work to do. You just don't think about it until you're done.

Sociopaths generally find it much easier than most.

Not eating meat, not eating dairy.

The harm to oneself is just nonsense. Most of the fittest and healthiest people are not vegans, they just have self control. It's a common trait of vegans to compare groups with preselection bias (those who already care about their health but are misguided in their methods) with all others, including all the fat clams who spend their days eating Iceland food and Greg's.

The harm to animals issue is just personal preference. Cows are tasty, so I eat cows - there's no need for it to be any more complex than that. For someone who claims to care about animals, you clearly haven't thought through what would happen to the cow population if we were all vegans. You're essentially cow Hitler, promoting methods that would destroy their population.

Scara.
You're embarrassing the board with that 'cow Hitler' comment. Do better. Please. It isn't funny. It is, in fact, enormously distasteful even beyond the fact you're talking (as usual) out of your arse.
Thanks.

How do you make a pizza without cheese? Serious question.

I think beyond meat is made with plants. Clean meat is what they call meat grown in a lab. Cultured meat is another name for it I believe.
Lab grown meat is probably the answer if we can't get the population to sustainable levels.

Apparently it tastes pretty good, it's just the production that's an issue.

I'm fairly sure @AuroRaman has thicker skin than to be offended by that.

Although he is a vegan, so he may be wasting away ;)
