Golf Thread

Awesome
1st time I've played golf for about a month, now I'm settled in I'll be able to go once a week at 6.30am and can be home logged on for 9.30am latest
Will change when it's dark early though

Where do you play mate? Ive just moved from Goodwood to Blackmoor, on the A3 near Petersfield. What a track.

As a traditionalist this doesn't get my juices flowing
Agreed, that just looked boring, stupid, ugly, painful, dumb. Bro.
They seem to focus purely on club/ball speed and "wrecking" their bodies. Bro.

I played 18 earlier and after a few holes I just wasn't hitting driver right at all... kept skewing it right... eventually I realised I was rushing and trying to WHACK it.
I hugely slowed down my backswing (and the start of my downswing) and was hitting it 30 yards further than I normally do, perfectly straight!
Made an enormous difference to the whole course, suddenly I could hit 9 iron from the fairway instead of trying to find my ball in the gorse and hack it sideways with a 5 iron with a thorn in my ass.

Had an email yesterday £1,800 for 5 nights, 4 rounds including this course and the other one in the area
I honestly think it could favour the europeans the course layout, it's not a course where you can bomb it anywhere

Indeed it is quite bizarre that the Americans have chosen a course literally designed to look and feel like Ireland, to play against Podraig and friends!

Also, there are some short par 4's with yardages:
#1 364
#6 355
#10 361
#13 404
#14 396

The American big hitters will be smashing Driver to try and 'get there' but there is soooo much trouble around, surely they will end up in the long grass or down a bank or off a side lie.
To me it seems better/easier to lay up with a safer club in the flat part of the fairway and hit a wedge into the right part of the green. More dependable when the wind gets up.

Still looking forward to this... let's go!

These guys played the course [a year ago and posted this] 4 days ago. Nice pair of shots on the 3rd; easy peasy!

More adverts than golf so far. 2 shots then five minutes of adverts.

Shakey start. Silly shot from Rahm on par 5 after a wayward tee shot from yanks.

4 down after 4, didn't see that coming. Thought Poulter and McIlroy would play much better.

Beautiful looking course, I'd love to play it.

Easy to say in hindsight I know but McIlroys form coming in has been patchy at best and Poulter, for all his passion and confidence just isn't a top top golfer anymore.

Rahm is a machine though, alot rests on his shoulders.
