*** Tottenham Hotspur vs clams***

Rent boys has never been about the rouble. I can't quite tell if people are genuinely ignorant of the term or deliberately denying the term's homophobic nature. It has been a stock derogatory term since the 70s, fairly widely used in TV and film. Any dramatisation featuring Tory MPs in the last 40 years has had some allusion to the term - young, often vulnerable, male sex workers that are used by paying males (mainly Tories and rich men) for sex.

Think the link to Chelsea was probably the lifestyles in the Chelsea, Fulham, King's Road area in the late 60s and 70s. If it hadn't been insulting and offensive it wouldn't have become an enduring terrace chant and ridiculing one bunch of players for being mercenary would have had no staying power.
A male sex worker employed by a woman for sex would also be a rent boy.

Nobody is ignorant of the term, it just isn't a homophobic one. It's sex workerist maybe.

No, the term was and is almost exclusively used for homosexual sex workers not gigolos or escorts. When used at someone it is of the insult style of like 'bender' 'poof' 'faggot' 'are bandit' etc - using the concept of homosexuality as a deliberately derogatory slight.

Dont worry boys and girls. Since the Palace thumping, I have covered up Solzeers face (where he is holding up the Worthington Cup in 99 with Nielsen) on my Spurs wall. My thinking of keeping it on there was that the football gods would look down on me favourably for being a nice Spurs fan. He now has a picture of me meeting Eriksen out in the rain outside my workplace back in 2016 whilst his then gf held my slip case and umbrella for us to take a photo, covered over his despicable face. If the football gods dont see this as appeasing to their selfish likings then nothing will and we are doomed.

3-2 Spurs.

That's not what it means. That people who are retarded enough to be homophobic have a poor grasp of their own language is unsurprising. That doesn't mean the phrase is homophobic in itself or in use by those who are not homophobes.

As I've written before if it offend people it should be dropped, but I always thought it implied their players were prostitutes rather than homosexuals.

If you want to believe that the term Chelsea Rent Boys was not originally used as a slur about their sexuality, basically describing them as male sex workers who had homosexual sex for money, and that the intention was never to insult them by saying they were homosexual as if that is offensive (therefore being homophobic) then that is up to you for sure. Whether people who use it now have any homophobic tendencies because they are ignorant of its origins doesn't change the fact it is a homophobic insult.

Back to basics guys.
I have been away from this board for ages. Anyway, now back, double vaccinated and ready to party.
Like most of you I am dreading this game, specially with our current injuries.
Anyway, after many months, the party at on my roof top bar & grill is on this afternoon.:):)
3 couples, all Spurs supporters, are coming over, all fully vaccinated.
Menu as usual, is BBQ king/jumbo prawns piri piri, chicken and beef kebabs, corn on the cob, and my special salad.
Tusker lager, for guys and vine for the ladies.
One way or the other, we will be either celebrating or drowning our sorrows.
COYS.

The word "bent" has also been used as a homophobic slur.

If I were to describe a pipe that was no longer straight as bent, it wouldn't be homophobic because the offense is in the context and intent.

If that is true, then whilst I'm not sure I like the midfield diamond, at least we would have some creativity in there

It could be 4-3-3 I guess if GLC is playing up alongside Kane and Son

Some probable nonsense for you guys to take your mind off the gigolo discussions
❗️ BREAKING - LEAKED TEAM NEWS ❗

Lloris, Emerson, Dier, Romero, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Dele, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Son, Kane.

Perhaps GLC on the right in a 433 or maybe a 442 diamond

I'm pleased with that team, or at least the potential it has there. Certainly it poses questions for CHelsea to deal with rather than us having to solely be concerned about coping with their players.
