RIP Jimmy Greaves.

Oh no. Despite his ill health for so long, that comes as a real shock. I feel very, very sad to hear that.
My dad watched him play, I never had that pleasure and joy.
Absolute legend.
RIP Jimmy. We will remember you well later on today.
 
Was too young to see him play but Saint and Greavsie was a must watch on a Saturday as a kid.
Watched clips of him when I was older and he was one of the best.

Legend is thrown around a lot, but it fits here.

He should be cheered to the rafters today. Absolute legend! Some may try but I don't see anyone coming close.

Really gutted hearing this. One of my true heroes when I was a kid and one of the best strikers in the world. Only got to see him play a couple of times but he was one of the games true greats. Later he went on to pioneer football punditry with Ian Saint John on tv, a great programme for football fans filled with humour and great insights into the games.
Even though it looks like Harry Kane will become Englands all time record goal scorer no one will ever beat Jimmys goal per game ratio

My dad looks like Jimmy well did before Jimmy got unwell
And I remember as kids being in Yarmouth and some bloke asking my dad for his autograph. He declined and explained who he was and these blokes were not happy
Turned out Greavesy was doing an event in Yarmouth that day
 
Remember when I first heard his name, it was read out by the tour guide during my first visit of White Hart Lane when I was 13. I turned to my Dad and asked if he knew who he was, my Dad smiled, nodded and explained how back then everyone did. Learned since then he was one of the best there ever was, unreal pace and power and a great finisher - the complete striker.

No comparisons needed, the man will forever be remebered by this club, and football in general, as a legend.
