Pushing up the daisies - 2021 edition

Mick Jagger phoned #CharlieWatts hotel room in the middle of the night, asking, "Where's my drummer?" Watts got up, shaved, put on a suit, a tie, went down stairs, punched Jagger in the face and said, "Don't ever call me your drummer again. You're my fudging singer!"

It’s all in the game, yo.

Very sad news. Way too young. Sounds like a sad end, if it’s as reported.

Loved the 48k rubber key Spectrum. Attribute clash. Kempston joystick interfaces. Head over Heels and Manic Miner. Loading screens and the weird, gabba-anticipating sounds that accompanied them. Typing in POKEs for infinite lives. That’s a whole culture right there (which Alan Sugar destroyed), so surely we can forget the death trap trike.RIP Clive.

Only the British could take someone who changed the world with his inventions and only remember his one crap one.
The hours if my teens i wasted typing in code, playing jet pack willie and inca curse and listening to the sound of the tapes beeping and whining when you"d forgot to plug the audio leads.
Happy days.

Sir clive sinclair, the zx changed the world.
Ironic he died at the age of 81.
Early teens had a Speccy 48k, bought from WH Smith for £129 if memory serves (expansion needed? :D). Loved it, never used for programming really, just to play Ultimate/Ocean/US Gold games mainly. Knightlore was class.

Started with a zx81 and moved onto a 2nd handie spectrum.
Spent hours methodically typing in code for useless rubbish mostly on zx81.
Sine waves, union jacks, random pixel generator.
Moved to the spectrum for the games.

Ultimate and Ocean were great, big shout should go to Hewson too for shooters like Zynaps and Exolon, US Gold always seemed to do disappointing coin-op conversions like Outrun though. Matt Smith’s Software Projects was the daddy.

Couldn't beat a budget Codemasters release either !!!
