*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Stade Rennais***

El Guepardo

Rafael Van Der Vaart
Time to bounce back. Time to show that Saturday was no more than an unfortunate blip, and that this isn’t the same soft Tottenham Hotspur of the past. Time that every player that starts shows why they deserve to have a future with us, that they want to be with us, and that they will give their all for us every time that they wear our shirt.

We are a team, we are a collective force, we can rise to the top but we need every player, every member of staff, and every supporter to give their all. No lazy efforts, no call to be elsewhere. We are Tottenham Hotspur. This is a chance for the club to shine.

Every other supporter looks at our results and wants us to lose. They want to laugh at us, to tell us that we’re not a ‘big club’. Is that what anyone wants? No! Let’s instead impress them, let’s show them just how good we can be.

Nightmares like Saturday ends NOW. Today is a new dawn, we prepare for the match against Stade Rennais knowing that whilst the past has happened, we are the creators of our own future, let’s aim so high that success will be guaranteed. COYS

I’m tired of the lazy OMTs churned out with apathy 12 hours before the match starts. That’s why this one is now, ahead of time, and to show that business is about to get serious.

Come on you Spurs!

Competition: Europa Conference League
When: Thursday 16th September @ 5:45pm
How to watch: Match televised live by BT Sport

Note to Nuno: Ditch Winks, bring in Ndombele. Play a strong lineup and demand a result. Yes…we play Chelsea on Sunday, and some will say we should rest players, but I think we need a reaction more. We need our players to show just what they can do, just how capable they all are.

Good leopard.

Assuming Romero and Sanchez have been whipped into a pair in Croatia, it is a great moment to test them, prior to Cheatski.
Son and Dier injured. Berg too I think.

I wonder if Gollini will get a start ahead of Lloris, he seems too "high profile" to not play at all this year, he is on the bench for Italy ffs!

Hard to say if some players need a rest e.g. Alli/Moura/Kane and others need game time e.g. Sess/Kane?!

But it is very hard to pick a cohesive line up, every time I try the midfield just looks wrong e.g.

Tanga Sanchez Romero Davies
Hoj Skipp
Gio Ndom Gil
Kane

Bench: Moura Alli Skipp Reggie Sess Winks Doherty Kids

Hmm, so many question marks...

Positivity. Belief.

Looks like a busy night for Skippy

Our South American trio are not back until Saturday, so not available for this one.

Gollini

Doherty. Tanganga Rodon. Sessegnon

Ndombele Hojbjerg Dele

Moura. Scarlett. Gil

Trying to blend those who need games and protect those we can’t afford to lose, don’t think we can afford an academy grad or Winks in midfield as we need to get a foothold in the game and not have Scarlett chasing shadows again.

I’d also like to see Moura and Gil switch occasionally think the former may have a goal threat cutting in from that side and it’ll give the full backs two different problems to deal with.

I think we'll see something like:

--------------------Gollini--------------------

--Doherty--Tanganga---Rodon---Davies---

-----Ndombele---Skipp/PEH---Winks----

-----Moura---------Kane---------Gil-------

means that we would have at least 7 of the starting 11 for Chelsea fresh - Lloris, Emerson, Regi, Romero, Sanchez, Skipp/PEH, Dele. Potentially 8 if Son or Bergwijn are back

Don’t think son will be back but can see Bergwein being back

Are they not allowed to travel to France? I don’t know what the French rules are but, if they had been allowing, couldn’t they have travelled through to France, met them squad there and then the club stayed in France until Saturday? I assume that the fact we are training them in Croatia means that France isn’t a possibility, but otherwise it could have been an idea.

Sounds sensible

So as a distraction from a dull conference call I looked up France entry requirements. Argentina, Brazil and Colombia are all on France's red list, requiring 10 days quarantine. So not an option for us.

A quick scout of Rennes squad shows that the following are their most prominent players:

Kamaldeen Sulemana

Sulemana is a young Ghanaian international winger. At only 19 years of age, Sulemana has represented his nation twice.
he has made a promising start at Rennes this season, following his summer transfer from Nordsjaelland. He is a goal scoring threat with a career average of a goal every 3 matches. He will be dangerous for Davies/Reguilon and we will need to keep an eye on him.

Jeremy Doku
Doku shouldn’t be a name that people are hearing for the first time. He excelled this summer playing for his national team, Belgium, in Euro 2020. He’s an exciting, talented winger who was linked with big money moves over the summer, linked clubs included both ourselves and Liverpool. Doku is less of a direct goal scoring threat but will cause difficulty for whichever of our players occupies the right back slot….so most likely Royale, who will have a second difficult, tricky, opponent in two matches following his tormenting by Zaha at the weekend.

Benjamin Bourigeaud
Bouriegaud is an attacking midfielder player. Involved in all aspects of attacking play, with a goal return of a goal in every six matches, whilst also a strong passer of the ball. He seems to make forward passes, and will play it long if the pass is on. He is one of those that helps the attacking momentum of the side.

Alfred Gomis

One of Rennes better performers this season. Gomis has only made 20 appearances for the club since 2020 but appears likely to be their number one going forward especially based on the form that he has shown this season.

Helpfully, Doku is injured I think
