So my opinion is biased and your opinion is not?
HA! That's a good one!

Dussing Emerson as mediocre when he has not even kicked a ball in anger in the lillywhite; after he started the first three games for Barca and was sold only because of their financial state

Saying that Sessegnon is Lamela's replacement when it is obviously Gil

Claiming that Kane will be an inferior player due to his "discontent", without any evidence to that effect....

Definitely very objective and unbiased....

No one is objective and unbiased. It's impossible so your point is moot. You're both biased!

Very simplistic. You give no points to the deadwood we have cleared. Benitez went on record saying he could not sign all the targets he could have bought, because he failed to move surplus players out. We practically binned everyone we wanted out - that's a massive acheivement.

Commanding central midfield - Does not Skipp count as a new signing. If we had paid money for him we would be happy with the acquisition. Also Sarr fits into that category except we have to wait a season.
Skipp isn’t a new signing, we had him already.
Sarr doesn’t come until next year at the earliest. I gave (an IMO) generous 0.5 of a point for him.
We still have huge gaps in our squad. Last season we finished 7th, I expect similar from us this season. I don’t see how that equates to more than a 6 rating for the window.

6 is generous imo. We got rid of a goalscorer, didn’t add one, and seriously neglected AM knowing there were issues with Tanguy.

We had very limited attacking options last year and more often than not played on the break. That hasn’t changed, if anything it’s worsened. I think a lot of fans will need to see it before they believe it. Today only the start for me.

Bit harsh to set 10/10 at a point that's essentially impossible without spending way outside our means?

No points for keeping Kane?
Only impossible because we have one of the very few sets of owners in the league who refuse to invest their own considerable wealth (which has been vastly increased through owning THFC) in an attempt to improve the prospects of the club.

As fans (those of us who go) pay the highest prices in the country. I don’t think we should therefore be happy with the 6th to 8th (our likely PL finish this season) best product.

10 out of 10 would be the ‘perfect’ window, addressing our 8 squad weaknesses. We didn’t get anywhere close to that despite several suitable players going to teams of equal/lower standing than us (e.g. Ings, Edouard, Dakka, Soumare, Pereira, Bailey).

I think our owners showed their colours when they went for the cheap option for our manager. We’re still two more windows like one we’ve just had away from having a team that can get anywhere near challenging IMO…. And that’s assuming some of our young, still unproven players progress.

6 out of 10 is very generous I think (and 5 out of 10 is probably more like it when considering the here and now).

How'd you assess Kane's contribution today? Looked like a player giving everything and playing for the badge , right?

Kane wasn't great, but the supply was non existent today. None of the front 3 did anything of note bar Moura with a couple of runs early on before he faded out of the game too.
It's hard to judge a front player in a game like today.

I agree that he had no service, but he hardly broke a sweat. Would be amazed if he actually needed a shower after the game. Usually he'll try to get involved if there's no service, but today he did nothing.

Just watching Man U highlights.

They brought on Martial, Lingard and Van de Beek. Rashford is out injured, not to mention Cavani and Mata.

That’s with Ronaldo, Sancho, Greenwood and Fernandes starting.

We are absolutely light years from this now, yet it was only 18 months/2 years ago when some on this forum were saying we had the 3rd best squad/team in the league after Emirates Marketing Project/Liverpool.

I know we don’t have their money or pulling power but the mis-management of our transfer activity from an attacking perspective cannot be downplayed.

United have spent about £400m on the last few years
They spend more than city now to play catch up

Well played them - and I know some are happy with our transfer activity, and defend it regardless.

My point is the sheer number of bodies and intent. You don’t need to spend 400m to find some good alternatives to our so called 1st string (which used to be our 2nd string btw).

I know you are happy with our business, but I think at some point in not too many weeks, you might start to reconsider.

Well the teams were trying to compete with have had too

I think the key for us this window was exiting the dross

United still have players they can’t shift but they can afford to keep them

Exactly. This whole Harry Kane being in the way of getting a new quality striker is rubbish. You bring in quality, you raise competition and in turn, performances.
Yep he is brilliant
Would have been a striker for the next 5 years for us
Now we will have to get Daniel Sturbridge in on a free

What I will never understand is the defence of us only having one striker. Every club in Europe can manage to have more than one except us and people defend this because "oh no one wants to be behind Kane".

Harry Kane, can't replace or upset harry kane. Its just not on.
Crystal Palace can fudgein manage to have Benteke and Edouard on the bench but we can't manage it. Cool.

Id have taken Rondon
Somebody worth keeping an eye on for a potential striker rotation option is Adam Hlozek from Sparta Prague. Bags of skill and also has the right physique to play as a number 9. He can also play as a wide forward on either side so would improve our options up front in general. Would probably go for under £20m to whichever forward thinking club signs him.

A player that I mentioned before as a good potential option for us who I have only just seen has got away was Abdallah Sima. I see that Brighton swooped in and nabbed him from Slavia Prague on deadline day and then sent him to Stoke on loan. He would've been a very good option for us as a player who is ready physically to play now but nowhere near fulfilling his massive potential yet at 20. Apparently Brighton picked him up for an absolute bargain at only £7m, showing that there is still value in the transfer market if you look hard enough.

Lots of forwards moved clubs this summer for not outrageous fees.... Several of the below would've been good options in our squad:

Dakka (£27m)
Ings (£25m)
Cunha (£22m)
Armstrong (£16m)
Edouard (£15m)
Dia (£14m)
Mir (£14m)
Sima (£7m)
Dennis (£4m)
Borre (free)
Griezman (loan)
Correa (loan)
Vinicius (loan)
Sorloth (loan)
Simy (loan)
Calleri (loan)
Hwee Chan Hwang (loan)
Willian Jose (loan)
