*** OMT Tottenham v Crystal Palace ***

Really? Can you let me know which games please? (especially for Pochettino).

Jose did it in the 0-0 with Chelsea last season I think.

More impressively, our xG for the second half was a perfect 0.

I can’t remember which one was Poch, probably that 3-0 at Brighton where Hugo broke his own arm to get off the pitch.

Brighton away was the worst performance I can remember since the George Graham days. It was “over” then though, Poch was somewhere else already in his mind.

That was an absolutely terrible, terrible game. But even then I think we made their keeper work a bit.

Just checked - xg 0.48 for that Poch Brighton game.

In the George Graham days all the players were actually brick though, so it didn’t seem as bad.

I think there was some mitigation that Hugo suffered a sickening injury early on which clearly affected some players that day.

I was there
I don’t remember their keeper making a save
It was awful
Lazy lazy lazy and no played giving a damn for the manager

We were setup to let them play in front of us, Hugo had a quiet game until the hour mark and he didn’t make a save of note that I recall.

Our xG is always low.

Wrong. Hugo made a good and vital save from Gallagher from about 6 yards just before half-time after Zaha had opened us up down our right hand side.

It was an easy save, he’d have had to jump over the ball for it to go in. You’d have saved it too.

the way it was hit, yes I probably would have. But it was still a good chance for them. I suspect Kane in goal might not have though!!!!

Agree. I still have shivers every time I recall that game. I remember trying to explain the ineptness of that performance to my 2 Spurs mates who had the good fortune to miss it on TV. They just didn't believe me, thought I must have been exaggerating. We really did look like a pub side and it was probably the final nail in Poch's coffin.

Next game IIRC
Hugo came for the cross… fuxked it and broke his elbow or shoulder…
It was awful. Truly awful
Out fought, and out coached that day
Lost to Colchester on pens, lost 2-7 to Bayern, lost 0-3 to Brighton then a late lucky equalizer at home to Watford. Not great.

The only thing I'd take exception to was that Bayern game. I'll go to my grave saying that was a genuinely good performance from us - at least, as good as late-era Poch performances go.

The problem was literally every shot they had went in - they scored some ludicrously low xG shots that day, and I think we actually outscored them on xG overall. Some stats boffin remarked after the game that we could replay that game 100 times and Bayern would not have scored 7 once, that's how low a probability that was. And while I disagree with stats boffins in general, it met the eye test for how we played that day.

No arguing that we were atrocious from about January 2019, when our tired legs and stale/cheap squad finally began catching up with us, to when Poch was sacked at the end of the year. But that game...it irks me. :p
