A disgrace even with all the mitigating factors.

Thought Royal, Rodon, Tanganga, Dele and Lucas turned in something resembling acceptable performances. The rest were very poor.

Our line up and tactics were beyond shocking. As poor as anything in the Mourinho reign. Massively disappointed with that and fear for the rest of the season. Chelsea could murder us next week. I'm not basing that on today. We've been getting away with things big time and the roof fell in today. Chelsea are light years ahead of us.

We are very reliant on Kane and Son, we don’t have a suitable backup for either when Son is out.

The defensive shape and organisation still looks good. We had to get Davies on to finally let them get a goal.

That said, even with the limited options we have at least one of Gil or Ndombele needs to start games, we’d have been better keeping Dele in ahead of Winks and Gil in for Son than weakening two positions.

Agree with all of that. We all knew the risk with Kane and Son didn’t we? Why didn’t the club address? We’re paying thousands as fans and being totally sold short.
 
Goal difference back to zero then.

We started with a makeshift CB pairing, one of whom lasted about 15 minutes while the other got himself sent off stupidly. I don't care if the ref's been inconsistent - you're on a yellow, you do not dive in. Then one of the replacements gives away a soft and eminently avoidable penalty.

fudging annoying, but it's not the end of the world.

Hopefully someone reminds Nuno of the club motto sometime soon. Sadly, we simply don't have anyone able to control the game from CM.
 
With disruption and a patched-up team, the aim was not to lose. And we probably wouldn't have if the ref hadn't been swayed by the fans and Tanganga's enenery - he rushed in - but the challenge itself wasn't that bad, not often a yellow. Most refs do not hand out second yellows lightly. This one could not wait. Didn't even think it over before he acted. Was gleeful to brandish the card.

Down to 10, again the most likely outcome is a draw. An impossible to get of the way cross is fired in point-blank. Instant pen from the ref.

There is no doubt the Ref decided the game.

Indeed. I don't like Danny Ings as I see him as injury prone but we really need to stop our only having 2 strikers. We used to have at least 3 good strikers - Berbatov, Keane, Defoe, Mido at one point. Now we have only Kane and Son (who is a winger imho).

chavs did us in pre season by HT, we will do well to get anything imo - Nuno needs to switch tactics up

Kanoute, Keane, Defoe was also good. Feel there was a fourth to that but forgotten them. We were playing two up front those days though. Mido on loan perhaps from the January.

I just feel as a manager you’d want a body, even if it’s just a battering ram on the bench as an option or emergency cover and not have to sacrifice Son if Kane gets injured. That’s on top of the fact that Kane wants out and doesn’t need to be treated like he can’t be subbed anymore.
