Am i missing something? There's no mention of paratici.

There is a Spurs social media war going on between "Don Fabio" fanboys that think Paratici is the second coming and "where's the striker" idiots who aren't happy unless we get another Kane just in case.

This piece of propaganda is part of this nonsense on twitter.

Why do some of our fans always seem to go to extremes? Whether it's a player, magager, owner or dof. They are either great or brick. He's done business shifted some, brought some in. It will be a while till we know how good the business is. That's only transfers. His work bringing players from the academy through will take longer.
Let him get on with it.

Don't care one bit about some socal media war.

The point about cutting wages stands I think, regardless of how or why it was done. I don't see that as flimflam.

By focusing on bringing in younger players that are on lower wages, not going for big wage loan/free deals we've cut the wage budget and that's a good thing. Paratici has been a part of that.

We've spent some of that on securing Son to a new contract, also a good thing.

Some people giving Paratici more credit than he deserves shouldn't take away from what he does deserve credit for.

Still does not change the fact that very few ( if any) decent striker is going to come here and get splinters in his arse waiting for Kane to get injured/rested.

Match day 4 and the chances are he could have started a couple and depending on Kane’s state tomorrow a third - certainly plenty of minutes.

It’s not really picking splinters out his arse

Everyone knows that there's a high likelihood that Kane will miss a handful of games or more through injury. Everyone knew that it was almost certain that Kane would miss a game or two at first from the point when he didn't return to training.

Things happening that everyone more or less knew would happen doesn't change the equation. We could have told a potential signing that he would probably get games early because of the Kane situation. I don't think that would have changed anything.

There's still the rest of the season, all the games where Kane is nailed on to start. Unless a new signing could play as a striker and another role well enough to get into the team minutes will be very limited. Situation with other roles was the same this summer, those players, who are also good enough to be a valid backup (better for the team than Son) are hard to find, often expensive, and often want to play as a striker.

IMO going into the window we needed:
A backup GK
A new right back
2 new centre backs
A commanding central midfield player
A starting right sided attacking player
A creative midfield playmaker
A backup centre forward.

A total of 8 players required for the squad.

If we then say that a perfect 10 out of 10 window would be getting all of those we can look where we ended up.

A backup GK. Gollini - tick
A new right back. Royal - tick
2 new centre backs. Romero - tick. Second one not signed.
A commanding central midfield player. Not signed
A starting right sided attacking player. Not signed
A creative midfield playmaker. Not signed (though maybe Gil can become this?)
A backup centre forward. Not signed.

So taking a point off for each of our misses it's a 5 out of 10 window.

We can then maybe add 0.5 each for Gil and Sarr perhaps filling two of these positions in the future.

6 out of 10. Not bad really considering our financial situation. We should be able to challenge to achieve a 'par' finish of 6th/7th this season.

As an "immidiate impact" window, I'd rate it at 3. Only really Romero who will be a regular starter. He's also replacing one of our best defenders, so he has some pretty big shoes to fill.
As for investing for the future, I'd give it a 7. Would have liked to also get the young lad from Barca. That would have maced it close to 9/10.

And for cleaning out the trash, give yourself another 2 points on each of those scores

Very simplistic. You give no points to the deadwood we have cleared. Benitez went on record saying he could not sign all the targets he could have bought, because he failed to move surplus players out. We practically binned everyone we wanted out - that's a massive acheivement.

Commanding central midfield - Does not Skipp count as a new signing. If we had paid money for him we would be happy with the acquisition. Also Sarr fits into that category except we have to wait a season.

Bit harsh to set 10/10 at a point that's essentially impossible without spending way outside our means?

No points for keeping Kane?

Not really trash. Overall, I think we are slightly weaker.
GK + Gollini looks miles better tha than Hart

RB - released our best RB, and signed a young mediocre one

CB = Romero has some big shoes to fill, but I'll give him benifit of the doubt, and place him on par with Alderweireld potentially better.

LB = Still Davies and Reggie

DM/CM + pretty much the same as last year, but Sissoko replaced by Skipp. Still think we're a bit short there, but it seems Dele can also do a job in a 3.

Forwards - Sessegnon for Lamela is an immediate downgrade. We've lost a player that always played with his heart on the outside of the shirt. A fighter and inspiration of the highest order, and replaced him with someone with the confidence of a butterfly.

Striker - lost our backup striker and the one we have is somewhat discontent and doesn't really want to be here.

Long term it might turn out good. Sarr might be be the next viera/Pogba. He could also be the next Sissoko....

Tanganga is the replacement for Aurier and so far has been much more solid defensively, but not as good going forward.
Give Emerson a chance before writing him off

The Toby of last year is nowhere near the Toby of old and is going to go further downhill.
I'd prefer the Seria A defender of the year over the current version of Toby, no matter how good he used to be.

LB = Still Davies and Reggie
No, Reggie and Sessegnon for LB.

Skipp is an upgrade on Sissoko and will only get better.

Sessegnon is not a replacement for Lamela, if anything it's Gil in for Lamela.
I like Lamela but lets be honest, he never was fit for more then a few games in a row.

Striker - lost our backup striker and the one we have is somewhat discontent and doesn't really want to be here.
Kane will still give 100% whether he wanted a move or not

Long term it might turn out good. Sarr might be be the next viera/Pogba. He could also be the next Sissoko....

Sessegnon is terrible at left back. He just isn't a left back. He isn't really a forward either. Wing back at a stretch. In any case, none of of the positions he'd occupies are strengthened.
Tanganga has been very good, but everyone says he's a CB.
Kane is a professional, but no matter how "professional" you are, when it went as far as it did, it affects you!
Hell, every goodamn Spurs fan has been yelling it out that they have lost respect, and won't regard Kane in the same way as before.
How do you think they person himself feels?
There's no way it won't affect him. Claiming anything else is pure BS.

Pity it's 3 to 4 years too late....top clubs buy as they go along, freshen things up,top up the squad....Levy decides his policy at the time ,he says we're not buying that's it,you can have the odd player if you like .....but then the smell of mid table ,with bills to pay ,managers get sacked, another buying process starts,so we've gone back a few spaces to move forward again, give it another few years and he'll do it all again.........

And remember if Levy gone an extra £5mill ,Grealish would have been a Spurs player!!

Sessegnon played LB in Germany last year and did very well getting good reviews. What is a stretch, no, it's not a stretch, it's just not true in anyway is that Sess is a replacement for Lamela.
Do whatever twists of facts, positions or whatever you want to do, it's not true. At this moment in time Sess is a LB, at a stretch LCM, definitely not a RWF and a replacement for Lamela.

Just because everyone says Tanganga is a CB doesn't make it a fact. I think it will be his long term position but at this moment he is doing a good job at RB (not perfect, but overall good)).

As for Kane, we'll see, but I'm confident that he will still perform and will be in contention for the golden boot barring injury.

On top of getting rid of so much deadwood plus bringing in several decent players, keeping Kane was absolutely huge, the equivalent of signing one of the world's top strikers on loan. Downside is it effectively cost us c£60m+, but if we end up qualifying for the CL then that alone will be worth it.

Hence 9/10.

It is truly heart warming and massively inspiring to see your optimism and objectivity.... Not a hint of bias in that wonderful post!

We didn't spend big because of the stadium build. Since then the purse strings were loosened and Poch spent over 100m in his last summer here.
Covid has had an impact on transfers for the last year. You need to take the circumstances of those years into account.
