Nuno Espírito Santo - Sacked

New test coming up for Nuno. We've found a functional, though creatively somewhat limited setup that's gotten results.

Now we'll probably go into the next game with fresh injury concerns for several players, three players away in Croatia. No obvious solutions that are proven in this system in the PL.

He'll have to integrate new players, or players that haven't featured much, do so quickly with most of our first team unavailable for training, with uncertainty about availability.

Sois serieux, mon chum.

We're simply playing the game all big clubs have done in the past when they want key players kept healthy for more important league fixtures.

This feels like you're projecting your own bias onto "the fans in the stadium". Nuno has earned some slack i.e. top of the league with a slightly skewed squad.
Yes most likely. But consider that JM too had an excellent start and for longer, but fans started to turn on him when defensive football doesn't get the points as expected. If anything from JM's last season with us, top of the league is good - provided that there is a solid basis for it. Next few weeks with injuries and Covid restrictions are going to test Nuno to his limits.

I think I agree.

We have to develop more ways of playing, that taking time is fine though.

Mourinho failed to do that, hopefully Nuno can.

He won his first game vs West Ham but the run after that was mixed wasnt it.?

I feel fans turned on Mou when it became obvious we would play football right until we scored, then scurry back and defend our 18 yard line for 73 minutes. That is no way to behave.
I think they turned on him when this tactic stopped delivering results!

Two big issues with him today:

1. That starting midfield was never going to supply Kane and Moura with anything. It was overly defensive and thus unbalanced us as a team.

2. Not changing the midfield at half time when we had been hanging in the ropes, but were still in the game. We should've shifted one of Winks or Skipp for a creative player, to try to retain possession higher up the pitch and take pressure off the defence.

Very, very frustrating.
