Nuno Espírito Santo - Sacked

It's good to have this debate on anti-Semitism on here. Agree totally that building our extraordinary stadium, and borrowing the vast sums it cost, is the complete opposite of penny-pinching. Yet there have been aspects of the Chairman's behaviour in the past, such as charging the Chairman who sold Modric to us, for a Spurs' shirt, which seemed penny-pinching. Because we have failed to win any cups for so long, it's natural that we blame the owners for not investing more....and when the Chairman is Jewish, inevitably there will be anti-Semitism lurking somewhere. The moral, I think, is to avoid personal attacks on the Chairman or his character. When we look at our stadium, and the incredible players who have entertained us over the last decade, from Bale to Crouchie, from Eriksen to Kane, we should probably be very proud that we have had such a dedicated and visionary Chairman. COYS.

I couldn’t see the underlying figures but I’m not sure we’d be as high if it was net or what the relevance of just one side of the ledger is?

Reinvesting the Bale money during is very different to an owner pumping 50m of non revenue into a club to spend on players and should be the bigger concern for FIFA

New test coming up for Nuno. We've found a functional, though creatively somewhat limited setup that's gotten results.

Now we'll probably go into the next game with fresh injury concerns for several players, three players away in Croatia. No obvious solutions that are proven in this system in the PL.

He'll have to integrate new players, or players that haven't featured much, do so quickly with most of our first team unavailable for training, with uncertainty about availability.

I was hoping we could plug along with the team that started the season (and started it so well) and introduce new players and squad members as and when and on Nunos terms. Alas not.

He's had quite a workload already. Kane situation, Ndombele situation, summer international players back late. Now a pile on of quarantined and injured players and games thick and fast.

Hopefully something good will emerge out of it all?

Was going to post the same - he’s had quite a challenging start with the cards he’s been dealt over the pre season - the positive is he has started well and got performances and buy in from players we thought would be sold or reserves at best whilst not having Kane.
With Emerson and Romero likely to be first teamers, 100M of midfield talent not yet utilised and Gil looking like he can give us something different in possession there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic that we will continue to improve. Lo Celso and Romero can be covered in the very short term as they hadn’t started many games anyway, hopefully Rodon can come in for Sanchez or Tanganga if Emerson starts. Skipp being out may given an opportunity for Gil as an 8 with Hojbjerg holding if we change up a gear or Winks who may yet show improvement with a defined role.

That's the hope....it fast forwards something (that's good) that we might not have seen for a while otherwise.

Definitely hasn't had circumstance work for him too much so far.

I'm not sure I see much upside in it other than if we manage to stay relatively competitive during this period, it will speak well to full season potential.

It's a chance for others to step up, it's a chance for Nuno to test out some other approaches and combinations. If that works out well a lot of good can come from that, but it's far from ideal and a real challenge.

Will be very interesting to see which solutions Nuno goes for.

I hope he will not be too Conservative. Can't be too long before fans in the stadium turn on the team at home if we keep on playing the way we have with different results

Quite certain there will be changes as the season progresses, and more certainly of he stays successful enough to keep his job for another summer transfer window.

He built his Wolves team around Moutinho and Neves in midfield, plenty of good pass and move and dribblers further forward. He knows the expectations with "Spurs DNA".

Very happy that he's gone for a more pragmatic approach at first. One of my worries when hiring Nuno in the circumstances we did was that he would be pressured to play a more attacking style than he actually thought the team was ready for early on. Glad that didn't happen.

Hopefully the fans will be patient enough.

Sometimes I am frustrated by Levy, he did not buy Grealish when he had the chance or Fernandes etc plus many other things, but on the other hand thank feck there is no chance that we will ever experience the current problems facing Barcelona under Levy's stewardship
