Harry Kane MBE

Things seem to be moving quicker in terms of negotiations with Paratici being here, not using Levy’s old school Gap Partnership techniques. I have faith that if Kane goes, the money will be reinvested better than when Bale left and, weirdly, actually feel quite optimistic about things. To me, we’ve been over-reliant on Kane for too long now and creating a stronger team might see us set up to challenge more consistently. You never know…

I agree with the latter bit for sure
We shouldn’t reinvent the fact the guys an amazing amazing player. But our over reliance on him is not healthy for the team. It’s something we can fix and IMO create a better team

Im pretty sure city can’t afford this presently…they have to sell players and they have never spent the more ridiculous transfer fees.

I believe this is clever work from Daniel.

if true then we get a game changing incredible sum of money.

if it doesn’t happen it shouldn’t mean Harry and Levy relationship is beyond repair.

he’s literally smashed an ace like serve in city’s court. Let’s see how they respond.

if he goes we cannot begrudge him the likelihood of lifting trophies.

with that out in the media all the pressure goes to city, pay up or shut up…this should now stop interfering with our pre season preparations and let us move on.

It’s times like this, usually selling our top talent:( that I actually really appreciate dear old Daniel.

he clearly made a big decision over the weekend and I do believe ‘if true’ this is the best way to go about things.

This, lots of stories of the relationship and Harry potentially not turning up for training to protest the "no sell" stance

This is a blinder response, "Hey Harry, we love you, want you to stay, if you want to go all we ask is City (who has spent £2B on players) come up with a £160M"

Now if it doesn't happen, it's because of City not us ..

Ultimately, what is the Sun's story? That we'll reluctantly sell Kane if an eye-watering offer comes in.
Which was probably always going to be the case.
Even the Sun seem to be tiptoeing around saying that a bid has actually come in and been formally accepted.

Whilst I’m far from convinced it’s true as the source is about as reliable as lamela right foot…

It would be the right kind of money to make us want to sell

get them to chuck in Laporte to play with Romero and £120M and we would suddenly look very different defensively

then get in Ings and Vlahovic and we would arguably be better off as a team (subject to players settling)

Kane is the best striker in the land and arguably the best in the world but our over reliance on him hurts us and him.

he will win plenty at city and they were IMO the only club he could move too to guarantee the pots he wants
Unfortunately the source is very reliable mate.... A good friend of the family.

The only question now is whether the deal is actually already agreed or £160m is the price that Levy has told Kane that we'll accept for him. With our offers for players recently I suspect it is the former.

I would happily sell Kane for that figure. In today's financial climate its an absolute no brainer, providing the money and additional budget along with sale of players is all reinvested into the team, as Levy has stated.

Other clubs around the world are cash strapped and with a hefty purse of around £230m+ we could play moneyball with the correct investment would result in the complete overhaul of the team which is much required.

With this type money we can cherry pick players and take them from established teams rather than bottom feeding.

As good as Kane is, i would rather have 2x new CBS, a RB, 2x attacking players and a AM.

Game on.

I think it's the former, the only reason this was leaked is Kane's camp again is trying to create some pressure, if the deal was agreed, why bother.

Tomiyasu is swap for Foyth
Keeper is a loan
Even Romero & Gil will be offset by Lamela, Sanchez (seems a couple of clubs interested), Sissoko (supposedly Nice interested), CCV, even Winks (Villa?), Doherty, etc. If Paratici is confident of getting the deals done, I haven't seen anything outrageous on our side yet (Romero will likely still be cheaper than Sanchez & Ndombele pre bonuses)

160m is cheap. How much did Hazard go for with one year of his contract left? What did Coutiniho go for?

Markets changed blah blah blah... well then don't sell your preforming assets in a depressed market.

You understand the club has no interest in selling Kane right? that Kane and his family are the ones pushing this agenda.

Fine... well he should tell his mates at city to prepare a world record bid then. Get Utd sniffing around, even if it is all for show.

I believe it’s a blinker played by Levy
It’s a case of Charlie Harry can go for £160m and they will double his money
He then tells the lady from the sun at his own wedding… (great timing) and then it becomes news
City deny it. Spurs deny it… now the ball is back in Kane’s court

1. We need a rebuild.
2. We've got fcuk all money.
3. We'll also be buying players in a depressed market as well as selling one in a depressed market.
4. We can buy from clubs who are far more desperate for cash than we are (e.g. due to the collapse of the TV deal in France).
5. If we can get 80% of Kane's non covid value (personally I'd say £160m is 100% of his value) and buy players at 50 to 60% of their non covid value then it works well for us.

I said a lot earlier in the thread that I'd been told Kane had asked to leave last summer and been asked by Levy to give another year (from a source as close to the horses mouth as anyone would be likely to get). I also said that I thought we'd get no more than £120m for him. If Levy has managed to get £160m (and I expect that will be a headline figure with various bonuses included in that) then he has done much better than I thought he would in selling Kane.
