Bryan Gil

This player may have bags of potential but we should be looking to sign players who will make an immediate impact, we cant afford to drop back in to the chasing pack. I know it's not easy but this is a critical point in our development and we must have a team capable to getting in top 4.

Area for immediate impact -> CB, I think we are clearly working on this

This window was always about refreshing mostly the "squad" not the first 11, i.e. Lamela, Winks, Sissoko, Rose, CCV, Foyth and replacing them with younger potential with the possible benefit of lower wages while the club recovers financially.

If we only did what is "close" right now, the team would look like

Lloris/Gollini
Tanganga/Tomiyasu/Doherty - Romero/Dier - Rodon/Davies - Reguilon/Sess
PEH/Skipp - Ndombele/Lo Celso
Lucas/Dele - Son - Gil/Bergwijn
Kane

with cameos from under 21's (Scarlett, Devine, John)

That team properly managed, fit and with a system can challenge for top 4.

I'd say to improve it even further, another CB and CM required, backup striker likely as well.

This feels like the type of player we always used to be linked with but over the last few years our transfer policy moved away from more promising young players with good potential that would need 1 - 2 years to develop, it's good we're at least looking to get some players in like this.

Will probably take some time to bed in but apart from Son we don't have pose much danger from wide, Bergwyn hasn't done much and Moura is inconsistent but generally much better running through the middle when playing well.

Pace, width, crossing and ability to take on your man is a lot of very good attributes.

Our left side could tear teams apart (Reguilon, Gil w/Son drifting from middle) or cause them to double up so much it will create openings elsewhere.

If we get the CB stuff done as well, this is as you said, smart signing like we used to do.

Dude plays on the left, don't we already have Son and even Sessegnon there? Hopefully we will get those 2 CBs, RB, RW and ST we NEED...
According to whoscored he's played some games on the right at least. Not sure he plays on the left because that's his best position or because that's where his team needs him to play?

Either way, young player with what seems like a fairly wide range of attributes who favours his left foot. Wouldn't pay too much attention to which side he's played on so far.

From watching his highlight reels I think he'll play out wide for a year or so and then move inside and play a false 9 Messi type role.
I wonder if he has the finishing instinct to do that well? [emoji848]

For my money I don't anyone but Messi has really excelled in the false 9 role. It's a very specific set of attributes to the role and not many have it.

I'm probably hoping he is the solution to our right hand side problem. We've been crying out for a wide attacker with creativity and goal threat for going 6 years and have never really addressed it. The highlights suggest like you think that Gil can be versatile.

Well I'll wait for the confirmation of the signing before getting too excited.

This. Even walking Bale showed that a dual goal threat and some composure on that side makes a huge difference to our attacking options, especially against the weaker teams.
