Next Manager?

And yet had Venables who won our last FA Cup and gorgeous George who won one of our last 2 trophies :p

He didn't pick Venables. In fact, didn't El Tel move upstairs for Shreeves when Sugar took over?

And I don't recognise Graham's reign. It's kinda like our Bobby Ewing moment.

Shreeves, Livermore, Ossie, Gerry the Mullet, Gross...

Underwhelming if true.

Just need someone in and, like other potential managers, he comes with risks, albeit different risks to other managers.

I think Spurs fans will give him time. I just hope that the rumours about him planning to install a more attacking style into Wolves last season, had it not been for the various injuries etc, been true and that he does the same at Spurs

“Just need someone in “ says it all really.

Desperate

Desperate

We are. However equally cutting that part of my sentence from the bit which follows it slightly distorts the meaning

Basically I dont think that we're likely to get a hugely better manager now, so whether its Nuno or someone else, there isnt much difference in terms of quality and priority is just getting someone appointed asap

Wasn’t my intention to distort your post .

It is desperate and not really an upgrade on Jose. It will be short term I think and the merry go round will continue in 18 months.

Just like Palace appointing Vieira and Everton getting Benitez. Wouldn't want them here obviously, but they're all much of a muchness really. As long as they get the basics right (defending, effort levels, some kind of attacking plan), the key to improvement is the transfer success rate.

You're probably right. Priority over the next 12-24 months is the DoF doing his job rather than the manager and the club being in a better position to compete in 18 mos as you say

then if Nuno has done ok, then he stays but if not we're hopefully a more attractive proposition for someone else

I agree that we should have appointed someone a long time ago. However, if there's no such thing as a guarantee for results, when it comes to the brand of football the manager wants to play, you should have a pretty good idea of what you're dealing with. Usually, what you've seen is what you're going to get.

That's what bothers me with Nuno. I can't say I was a big fan of his Wolves side (although there's no arguing with the results he got there) and I find rumors about his good intentions a bit weak, particularly when you compare them with Levy's DNA comments.

Considering there's no way to know whether we'll get the results we want, I'd have preferred a more progressive manager like Ten Hag or even Fonseca. Still, at this point we need a manager - almost any manager, it seems.

Transfer success rate has not been great here in a while. Hojberg aside it’s been mediocre at best.Maybe DOF will change that.

Thing with Nuno is his foundation is to defend be tough to beat. Wolves were not big goal scorers either . So much for our DNA of flowing attacking football.

From Poch and Conte to Nunono. If true, we are a small club, none of the top clubs in the country would have went with him. Why fire Jose then?

Couldn’t disagree more!

So was Mourinho, why change him for Nuno, what are we doing? Transfers were good last summer, Hojbjerg and Reguilon are good transfers and first 11 players. Rodon is promising and Bale's return was good when looking that he scored more than Lamela in his entire Spurs career. Ok maybe LoCelso is just average and Doherty less than so, but our high amount of dead wood, most are not from last summer transfers.

Have to strongly disagree,.. Jose never recovered from being sacked by Chelsea.. He was living on past glories ever since.. I think he had an emotional burnout.. And without developing his again.. He soon became a dinosaur.. A bit of an Italian Mike Bassett.. Nuno is a bright new thing and I believe if we get him we have had a lucky escape.. Nuno is the real deal. Forward thinking, dynamic and he will prove all doubters wrong.. Fingers crossed here..
