Gareth Bale

I hope so, but, he spent a summer doing BT Sport and US PL coverage media in our kit before going to Real.

He was our player until he signed on the dotted line ... he is not our player as of the last kick of the season. Spurs keep posting pics of him, its highly unusual.

When was the last time we had a loan player that was splashed on the website after the season was done? Not seen any pics of Carlos Vinicius

Even as recently as the Villa game he was ‘listening to his body’, so will be interesting if his body tells him he can do another 90 mins on Sunday.

He's become a luxury player, a very effective luxury player but still ..

He's often out of game for stretches, but if Wales had a better finisher they would have been 3 or 4 up from some of his passes, add in his set pieces and you have a weapon.

The question isn't
- Can you make Bale defend of stay in the game for 90 minutes
- It's can you build a side where you expect him to not do those things but pop up with game changing moments (and obviously against lesser opponents he will put them away)

I think he proved last season that there’s much more to his game than pace. Even his build up passing was a noticeable higher quality than some of our other players.
It would also be a shame if another team benefits with what was a year of gentle use to rehab him after the time out at Real.

if he was available next year on the same terms, I guess those questions have to be presented to the new manager.

for c£10m as a one off investment, what else could we do with that money. In single season term it’s probably a years wages and £5m towards the first payment of a transfer fee.

Depending on Bale’s motivation (get fit for World Cup / avoid injury for World Cup) I can see a role for him but it would likely be against smaller teams or off the bench, unless the new manager wants a full press. With him and Kane we sort of have two world class players on the ball who can’t really press though.
