Next Manager?

I must say I find some of the reaction to DubaiSpurs views over the top(and that’s putting it nicely) I also find it baffling that there is a suggestion that anyone would want The Fonz to fail just to score some points. Have people really forgotten the primary joy of supporting a club is by seeing your team win games?

I think Daniel Levy is an abysmal chairman for my football club, a great business man but after twenty years in charge as the chairman of a football team he has ultimately failed. That’s my opinion, he’s not going anywhere so I hope I’m wrong

for what it’s worth I feel emptying the Fonz a little
underwhelming, I don’t have much knowledge of him, indeed hadn’t heard of him until Roma played United in the semis. His record isn’t amazing and he clearly was nowhere near first choice.

the one thing I can take as a positive is for better or worse it seems like it is an appointment being driven by our incoming DOF rather than the chairman and that is a step in the right direction. Other than that meh…

however I would love nothing more than my opinion to be proved utterly and completely wrong and I’m left without egg on my face. Why because it means Spurs are on the right path.

That’s why I find the stances and responses here baffling

I
Assuming you are referring to my post - I did not suggest @DubaiSpur would want Fonseca to fail - no Spurs fan wants any manager to fail. I suggested (and I believe) that he would enjoy and look forward to the opportunity to say 'told you so', and rant at Levy, if it doesn't work out.
There are plenty of people on this forum who have reached the end of their tether with Levy. I'm not quite there - yet - but I understand the frustrations. There is generally good debate but none approach the topic with anywhere near the same level of vitriol as Dubai, which I personally find unnecessary. It's a shame from an otherwise very good poster, with some excellent knowledge of the football world, especially of overseas players, which I find extremely informative.

No spurs fan would want a manager to fail? Lol. I remember spurs "fans" saying just that when sherwood was in charge. Never underestimate how low people are willing to go to get their own way.

To buy what? I know what you're saying but we can't have a baldini magnificent 7.
Whoever the DOF thinks we need
I can name quite a lot of players that we could get with that money that would give us a brilliant side
The reality is though (I was being facetious) I can’t see anyone paying the fee for Kane and I was reacting more to the constant negativity

From someone who is very frustrated with Levy, I take no joy in saying I told you so, in fact I don’t say it

as I said i appreciate it’s my opinion informed by my personal view of the situation. And it’s not just you.

as I said the only positive I can glean from this is the the ( believed to be) incoming DOF being backed to make a descision. Wether it’s a good one( judging by his record), I have huge doubts.

The only positive?

Lets rewind a bit. When we sacked Mourinho. We all wanted:

- Levy to step back from football matters.
- levy to get a dof.
- the dof to choose the coach.
- the dof to rebuild the squad.
- the coach to play attacking football.

Seems like the boxes are ticked for me.

It wasn’t that long ago that multiple posters here didn’t mind losing if it hastened Mourinho’s end.
No. Really….
But some of them have actually got behind the changes happening without any argument

the odd thing now is were dammed if we do and dammed if we don’t

say we sell Kane for £200m and spend £300m on players mainly funded by sales to refresh this squad, the conversation will start with net spend and how low it is

or if we keep Kane and the new manager only gets 3/4 players, some of whom are less known the conversation will start with It isn’t enough and we haven’t shown any ambition (despite keeping the best player in the league)

Judging by whose record?

I don't understand people. Mate of mine is an arsenal fan. He would prefer arsensl not to win a trophy rather than spurs win one. How sad is that? Are people these days just more used to being angry and upset than feeling joy? So bitter and twisted they'd rather other people be miserable with them than see them have a good time?

Windys done a good analysis here
He actually doesn’t go into as much detail as he could around the car crash that was happening at Roma but he does highlight the way that Fonseca is similar to Poch but with more trophies and more experience

Tbh i gave up on windy. When he asked if it was racist that mason got the job ahead of powell. No mention of gibbs.

Anyway whole different discussion.

It's just that you're shouting about taken onboard about flimflam stories in the media, I really don't get it, like at all.

For what it's worth, we shouldn't want someone who'd be so desperate to come back "home" after such a short space of time after beginning a new endeavour. I do believe that Poch himself holds himself to higher standards than this, whether you continuously claim that it has been "pumped" or not.

To be clear, I’m not annoyed because I thought we get Poch because of a story in the paper and then we didn’t. (Well, I am a bit, because I love Poch).

But I hope you can see in this thread I’ve been very fair and balanced in the discussion around Fons and give the club it’s due for making a sound decision.

What I’m actually annoyed about, is that the leaks came from the club. It’s not the story I’m annoyed about, it’s why the story appeared in the first place, and what the motivations behind doing that were.

Honestly this take that ‘the media is all flimflam’ is just native. Of course not everything they say comes true. But most of the time a story comes from somewhere. Some person or institution has an agenda and uses the media to further it. In this instance, that week, I thought they were taking the fans for a ride to drive engagement. And I think that’s incredibly poor form. Not getting Poch I accept. Signing Fons I accept. Being taken for a ride I don’t accept.

Most were clutching at time as well, even blamed the teams we beat to get to the league Cup final.

It got to the point of any other manager could have worked miracles with Dier and Sanchez ... sometimes it was the same players who played for poch had success, then it was a case for mourinho built the squad ... looool
