Jose Mourinho

Slightly irksome that the toxic charlatan has everything sorted while we’re still scrawling lists on backs of envelopes. All sympathy with Roma, though.

Getting money sorted was always Jose's forte...has he earned more from his recent sackings than in-job contracts and win bonuses etc.

Tbf, Italy is the one place that might work for his defensive, old-skool tactics, though even the likes of Atalanta, Lazio etc show that he might even struggle there now.
Plus, he has quite a few coaching enemies there who'd love to give him a black eye (i think that was one of his downfalls eventually in England: too many old foes that he'd trolled who'd up their game immensely when facing his team..)

Ha, this made me smile at his ability to just stroll into a new job as if nothing happened.

Presumably this might be good for us financially depending on the gardening leave arrangement?

I'd assume at worst we owe him for the rest of season, so I'm sure it's saved us a quite a tidy sum.

Good luck to him, it would be no surprise to see Roma win a trophy over the next couple of years.

I'd be very surprised if he did actually: his coaching style, methods etc seem dated and even though Italy is a football culture that take pride on strong defensive play, i think even they realise that at times attacking as a structure can be a key part of defence...

Time will tell either way though, eh

As you say we will see.

This is going to be fun to watch. My love for the Nerazzurri trumps Roma but that derby vs Lazio is going to be fun to watch. Not to mention Roma Vs Juventus, Roma Vs Inter! The reunion with Zlatan - lol!! Good get for Serie A.

Good luck to him, should save us a pretty penny with his compensation so a fair bit of upside for us with him getting employment so quickly. Who knows how it will go, his reputation still carries alot of weight and it will put Roma in the headlines for the right or wrong reasons at least.

Talk some brick don't they

"The incredible passion of the Roma fans convinced me to accept the job and I cannot wait to start next season."

What if he does win something at Roma... we'll be pronounced the only team that mourinho didn't win something with.....

It was never "could Mourinho make Tottenham winners?"

The correct question was "Could Tottenham make Jose a loser?"
.
We could get taken over by an oil state and still win fudge all. Its what we do.

So definitely this. Unlike Chelski and City, we'd find a way to fail while cheating.

We were a free hit for Jose, win a trophy and he was a hero, lose and he could walk away taking no blame.
Expect "losing culture ingrained at Tottenham", "unrealistic expectations" and/or "Levy wouldn't spend" comments to be leaked.
And tbh who can argue with any of it.
