Has now scored more goals since 2012 than his replacement when he left Lamela

Quite funny....but its not true is it? Lamela has more than 9 PL games since then hasnt he? Probably not by many though!

edit: Lamela has 17 PL goals in the last 7 seasons, so no (not that I rate EL though)

That is a good point, yes he has scored goals but the vast majority were against the lower sides. Still not convinced we should extend the loan.
If we can afford it I think it would be a deal worth making. Being able to beat smaller teams with more consistency is super valuable. And as an impact player in big games I think he could be valuable.

Just don't want him starting big games unless something changes. But he has real quality, and goals from the right. A lot of value in that.

Would he accept a role like that? I'm not sure. But if we could find a deal for him I'd be all for trusting a new manager to find good solutions to make it work.

You may be right but for me spending the amount of money on his wages for what he has given us so far this season is not worth it. IMO

there is an argument that if we consistently put away the lower sides, it is enough to justify it.

What he's given us this season is hard to judge via the amount of game time given, I almost feel that if we are thinking about it, Mason needs to play him in the remaining games for us to have a better view.

I have no problem if he decides to do that, i said Rodon should play every game to see if he could be good enough to be a starter next season as well.

It would have to be a decision based on what the new manager wants. Weighted up against what other business we could do with that money.

I think the expectation would have to be that the new manager would get more out of him than Mourinho did. I think that's at least plausible, perhaps even rather likely.

I'd prefer Mason picks the team which he thinks has the best chance of getting results for the remainder of the season.

If we get to dead rubbers, then sure, pick players to learn about them but whilst we have the chance of getting in the CL and EL, lets focus on that so that we can salvage something from this horrible season

Personally, I agree on Rodon. Not sure what's going on there.

However, Dier and Alderweireld have looked really good in the last 3 games. As solid as any of our CB partnerships have looked this season. Fair enough Sheff Utd and Southampton aren't great but I thought both were brilliant against Emirates Marketing Project too who absolutely battered us.

We really need the new guy in quickly.

unless of course he’s already signed....

I would like us not to rush into the next manager. I would like to leave it till the end of the season. There is no obvious rush.

My guess is there is pressure to qualify for Europe next season, thus all games still considered 'must wins' and as such, Mason will pick the side he trusts the most.

has to have an impact defensively too, no need for that in this game
A few minutes before he was subbed he sprinted back to make an interception just outside our box.

I don't think it's a lack of willing in defence, more that he's one of the players we want to be in space in a transition.
