The Fight to Qualify for the European Conference League 2020/21

I can't believe we still have a chance. We have been playing off form for so long. Liverpool draw, if Chelsea and Spam draw then 3pts off with 6 to go.

Gives the lads something to fight for.

Question:
Imagine we did it. Would you then appoint Mason full time??

No. We’ve all seen how caretaker managers can get a good bounce and then fail when in the job full time. Either way, I’d like Mason to be promoted to a first team coaching role under the new manager. He is Spurs and with what he has been through I have a real soft spot for him....

West Ham - Chelsea later is one of those games you dont want either to win - I'm not sure I could actively want either club to win a game of any description

For each of them its probably more a 'must not lose' game than a must win, which might help it be a draw

Such a shame we dawdled for so long in getting rid of Jose.... We could’ve been comfortably in the top 4 at the moment instead of having an outside chance.

definitely not. For his sake as much as anything. In a few years after he’s cut his teeth elsewhere? Why not.

Maybe our Ryan proves to be the special one and we win final 7 games of this season...

If - and that’s a big if - we win our remaining five PL games, I believe it's plausible to get fourth place.

We'll need Liverpool to draw one remaining game (Manure A) and West Ham to draw one more game (Everton H - we should better them on GD), which is very plausible.

Then Chelski to lose two games from City, Arse and Leicester - or Leicester to lose three games, of which the final three look the hardest. Stranger things have happened, but these scenarios obviously aren't quite as plausible.

The least plausible thing of course, is Spurs not making a mess of it all. We can't afford a single slip up if we want a last shot at CL next season.

My glass is half full tonight. :D

I'd go further than that. If we win our last 5 games, I think its more likely than not that we would get 4th. Chelsea would need 11 points from their last 5 games to finish above us, or 10 but have a better GD. I dont think its certain that they'd get that given their remaining fixtures. Liverpool and West Ham both have some tricky away games left.

Leicester have enough on the board already and some near-term games which means they'll get over the line in 3rd

Question is how many we can get from the last 5. I think we definitely need 13 point, probably 15. Great thing is that we have Sheff Utd next, rather than the Leicester game, to have a better chance of building some momentum

"Even the longest journey (to CL qualification) starts with a single step"

"It is the second step that gives momentum"

"and then comes the trip-wires, and the fall from grace"

"and then comes Ryan Mason who sets up the chase"

As of today the following cannot catch us :-

gw 33 - Saudi Sportswashing Machine
gw 33 - Brighton & Hove Albion
gw 33 - Burnley
gw 31 - Fulham
gw 29 - West Bromwich Albion
gw 28 - Sheffield United

Not much of a consolation but losing in the final today means that the Europa Conference place goes to a league team. Extends it down to 6th, and probably 7th given the Leicester-Chelsea FA Cup final

So we'll get it anyway. Nice....

The Europa conference is the special needs cup

we don’t want to be in it, rather be out of Europe

Thats what I previously thought however in 2-3 years time there's 2 extra CL places for teams with the highest coefficient who hasnt already qualified for the CL. Ourselves and the likes of Sevilla and Arsenal will be teams who will be close for those spots so we need to keep our UEFA coefficient as high as poss

If we do end up in this competition, we just need to be sensible with selection and not send 22 first teamers to far corners of Europe for away games - just our second 11 and U23s

Lets all be honest. We’re not fighting for anything. We didn’t even fight in the cup final ffs.

Looking at our fixture list, we may get a win against Sheff Utd but were dropping points in the last 4

Lets just get this season over and get a new manager to start rebuilding as early as possible. Leave it too late and we’re not going to be any better than we were this season

Emirates Marketing Project are the best team in Europe, therefore the world, at the moment. Yes, we were comfortably beaten but it wasnt a surprise for most of us.

Take teh remaining games one at a time and see how high we can finish

I don't know how to use the like button

Can we change the title and remove the word “fight”. This team has non of that and that word should not be associated with this squad unless its being used in a sentence that included Eric Dier and going into the crowd.

The manner of defeat is sometimes more important than the defeat itself.

Spurs players tend to react in the same way, it's been happening for decades, a bit of an opportunity, a bit of pressure, cheap suit impression.

Bang on, i have said on here for several years that a lot of our players have a lack of a winning m entality, i have been shouted down by some for saying it but its obvious if they open their eyes.
