Tanguy Ndombele

I think we need to hold fire on writing off players that came here with good reputations over the past 2 seasons and see how they fare under the new manager
Likewise I find it hard to judge him based on mainly his time under Mourinho who as a manager I just don't think would ever buy a player of Ndombele's type for a CM role. There is of course there ever more convincing arguement that he and GLC were bought for a diamond formation that we never got to see and likely never will.

The question is can the new manager whomever that ends up being find a way to utilise the obvious talents we do have in midfield in an effective and cohesive manner?

Can just about understand logic of starting Winks but what the heck did Ndombele do to offend Mason so much that Sissoko gets another chance to lose us a cup final?!
That need to bring on Bale. And the need for more cover when playing Bale in a game like this because of his lacking workrate.

Would have preferred Ndombele on for Lo Celso of he really had to come off and leaving Bale on the bench at 0-0. But I get the attraction of getting Bale on the pitch.

Didn't look like Lo celso wanted to come off.
Which as him and moura were our only threat was pretty ridiculous.
Especially for Sissoko.

Agree, not starting in his current form made sense, but for Sissoko to come on ahead of him was strange.

Thought the same thing to be honest, but at this time we seem to have a lot of players who reputation is higher off the pitch then on, soon as they come on they show its not.

Very surprised he didn't have any part. Felt his skills were needed with City dominating play and pressing the hell out of us.
I would've simply swapped Lo Celso for Ndombele and continued with the rest of the team unchanged.... Son would've been next player off but I would've wanted to see Ndombele on the pitch for a bit first to see if he could get Son in with a ball between Walker and Dias.

I'd have had Lamela on too, simply to squeeze that second red out of their carded.

Not used again.

I’d expect a new manager would want a good look at him given the unique skill set he has but it is a concern that three different managers have not seen enough from him to be a guaranteed starter.

Really hope something clicks with him, maybe it just needs some coaching that encourages moving the ball quicker and then performing his sorcery higher up the pitch where the pay off is bigger. It’s not like he can’t pass or doesn’t have vision either.

So question, Aurier was fasting yesterday, we saw the break in the game

Is that the issue with Ndombele? (Ramadan is April 12th - May 12th), could explain his drop off recently

Given his current fitness levels/attention to running have to give him a free role really and we have Bale doing that at the moment.

Can you have two players in the 11?

I’d say not.

It’s not just running with Ndombele for me, it’s also decision making, beating 2 men to win a free kick in the centre circle is counter productive if you are trying to break a team down. I really want is to tap into his potential but starting to get concerned that he’s not going to fulfil it.

I was looking to see if he would be observing Ramadan and found this article and there have been question marks about his application before.

I can definitely see the arguments for not starting Ndombele and Bale at this point. I think Lo Celso gives us a better balance.

When Alli came off though... Bale had already been replaced, we had fresh legs with Winks on for Lo Celso and we were 4-0 up at that point. (Perhaps 3-0 when the decision was made).

Leaving Ndombele on the bench and bringing on Lamela to me doesn't look like a tactical decision based on expected work rate on the pitch and the work rate of other players.

Impossible to know what Mason based that decision on of course. Will be interesting to see how Ndombele responds when (or if?) he gets on the pitch again this season.
