Jose Mourinho - SACKED

That makes a lot of sense. Redknapp really hates us doesn’t he. fudging cretin. You can disagree with the timing for sure but to say you don’t get why Levy did it is just stupidity.

Levy knew Jose had a decent chance of beating Southampton and maybe being top 6 after the cup final. Perhaps he loses the final and levy knows it’ll turn so toxic he’ll have to fire him. That then costs an additional 7-10m. He wins the final and there’s probably a bonus and it becomes harder to fire him.

Fair play to levy. I’m not sure where I stand on the timing of it but he sure as fudge is not afraid to make big decisions.

And you sound like a spurs fan through and through. Nothing wrong with that, this being a spurs board and all.

I think neutrals would agree that the couple of million pounds shouldn't matter and JM is our best bet at winning the cup final.

Redknapp's comment about spurs/levy being clowns, from a former captain, is out of line though.

Derp
He will leak more and more defensive rubbish I'm sure.
I tried my hardest, I really did, but I always knew he shouldn't be here.
Even when we were winning his press conferences were bordering on nauseating.
Give me three minutes of a 29 year old Mason in the presser any day!

Some of his press conferences were great.
If this has been you 'trying your hardest' then sadly your blinkers must be glued on.
Oh well, it matters not.

Hopefully we can all get behind the next guy. Without some having knives in hand ready to stab him in the back

Hahaha!
I have 'blinkers' because I didn't think some of his press conferences were "great'? OK mate.:D

Knives in the back? Absolute rubbish! my "knife" was in plain site but 'at ease' to give him every possible chance to succeed because he was the manager of my football club, which is bigger than anything or anyone.

Here's the truth; he failed.
And he will now blame anyone but himself.

That is absolutely the wrong attitude. If Levy believes we have a better chance winning the Carabo with "one of the best two managers in the game" then a few million here or there shouldn't matter if winning a cup is a possibility.

Mourinho should have been fired, for me back in December when it was clear the path the club was taking. Yet he left him until this moment. [emoji848]

If he sacked before the final to save some millions then that's a nonsense approach and everything that is wrong with this club under his leadership.

If he sacked him because he finally realised Mourinho was completely unsuited to the role of Tottenham manager and his position had become untenable then he made the right decision for the correct reason.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Levy has managed this well. I’ve wanted Jose out since the Dipper game in Jan. I’m just saying I find it hard to believe Redknapp is saying “I don’t understand why they did it now” because it’s obvious why Levy did it now. Redknapp himself gave a clear explanation of why Levy acted now.

It’s also been consistent with why we are different as a club to most others and not necessarily in a good way depending on your view. We don’t want glory at any cost, we want glory at a sustainable cost.

For the record, I think we had zero chance on Sunday with Mourinho.

Redknapp is a muppet, he’s been going in on Mourinho before and after every game and then when Levy does sack him he criticises. I don’t get why so many are going on about getting sacked before the Cup final, has anyone watched us play of late? I was all for giving Jose a chance but it was clear we was going nowhere and had next to no chance in this final. Let’s put it this way, we aren’t any less likely to win this final with Mason in charge of it....

Neutrals might think that but I'm not sure many Spurs fans would believe that, not based on what we've been witnessing with our own eyes.
And I know people say Mourinho is the master of the one-off game. I've never understood that tbh. When you are competing at the level we want to be at, every game is a game to be won.
I didn't hold any expectation at all for Sunday. I can now at least allow myself a slither of hope and get behind the romance of the idea of Mason performing a miracle. The type of romance that's been missing from (my) football watching for a long while.

Agree completely. But its the “Mourinho is the one man you want in charge for a final because he wins one off games.”

We lose on Sunday, particularly if we lose heavily, and that narrative will ramp up and Levy will be hammered. Fact is we’ve been hopeless under Jose for months and particularly since Woolwich. The chopping and changing of systems and personnel coupled with an obviously fractured dressing room would have made a “Mourinho masterclass” impossible.

But a lot of pundits won’t see past the “Mourinho doesn’t lose finals” narrative particularly the ones who clearly have an agenda against Levy (ie Redknapp).

Kane and son came out on social media to thank him. Maybe not a total cnut.

That's called having a good social media team and displaying good etiquette.

Agreed. A fine post.

That Redknapp audio clip was just idle speculation - probably read it on a messageboard or social media. I'm no contract expert but does anyone think if there was a Cup bonus or a league place bonus in there that sacking him when both were still to play for would have allowed us to pay him less? I'm sure any lawyer would have a field day with that - 7th place pay out when you're 5 points (?) from 4th with 18 points left on the table? I could argue that one at a tribunal myself

You could argue it but your still not getting the full whack, might get more than the basic but not much. Which is what Levy was aiming for. Considering the Super League has apparently cost us £8m so far before any other legal issues with it. Probably needs to be as clever as possible in saving money.

Good riddance to Mourinho anyway. Wasn’t a fan of the appointment in the whole. But was happy to give him the time to bring success. The football has been so dire though.

They were two separate sentences.
I think your blinkers are shown through the evidence of your posts over the last year or so. Not the lack of appreciation of some of his pressers; I merely commented that I enjoyed a lot of them.

Anyhoo, you're right. He's failed and all is past.
Look forward with hope.
