Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham's defensive record with Toby Alderweireld at CB:

16 games. 12 goals conceded, 8 clean sheets.

Tottenham's defensive record without Toby Alderweireld at CB:

9 games. 15 goals conceded. 1 clean sheet.

20/21 season, League only.
To be fair I don’t think anyone either on here or at Spurs questions that Toby is still our best CB. But it’s about managing the games he plays as he’s getting older now and can’t play every game so unfortunately it seems we are always going to have to rotate him out at some point....

Quite a few had actually anointed Dier as our best CB after only a handful of games last season but I think everyone except Scara has acknowledged that Dier hasn’t made the position his own and isn’t cut out to be a CB. Toby for me is still our best CB even if he’s not what he was 2-3 years ago. That also says a lot about how bad our CB’s are.

Chosing which two of our centre halves is like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.

None of our options are great, we have to make do with what we have till the summer but some options are less bad than others. For example, Sanchez and Dier is the absolute worst combination for me. Should be Toby + 1 other until the end of the season.

Seems to have gone under the radar here a little bit this topic but having been caught out straight up lying about two of our players he didn't like having it pointed out

Seems it's ok for him to wrongly imply publicly that the players were unprofessional but any clarification on the issue is to be done behind closed doors.
