Jose Mourinho - SACKED

So Spurs has a better squad than one of Chelsea, City, United and Liverpool? Kindly advise which one is worse than ours. Our weakness is in three positions - RW, CM, and CB. There are only 2 established goal scorers in their own right - Son and Kane.

We definitely don't have the best forward line.

So you have not read any posts on here over the last couple of years that have defended Poch by saying he never got the players he wanted??????
Yes, read loads, whether he got the players he wanted or not he wasn't getting the best out of those that he had in the last year.
As I've already said, there's loads of threads about Poch, not getting into a discussion about him. He's gone, I don't understand the obsession on here
of dragging him into every single debate about the current manager.

I I can't dance with any of that at all, problem is that some still insist on doing so.

That's the beauty of building a team, having a game plan and playing greater than the sum of your parts - you don't have to have the best players on paper to do well, something Mourinho and you Mourinistas wouldn't understand.

Never mind the fact that of those 4 teams only one has been consistent this season and so any sensible performance from us should have seen us pass ahead of one /two/three of the others.

I mean if your position is Mourinho can only finish above teams he has better players than then I'm not sure you're making much of an argument for him

City is out on its own. This season Liverpool's is decimated by injury and leaves it a lot weaker than it was last season, obviously, they have a better squad if fit, but that's not the case.
Our defence is the worst out of all those teams, no arguments there. Our CM is not weak, Ndombele PEH and Lo Celso is a good CM and there is not much difference between the three midfileds of us Utd and Chelsea. Our forward line is the best out of the three.
The difference between the three is that Utd and Chelsea have systems to get the best out of their strengths and we don't.

Have a look at the actual league table.

We have a much better squad than West Ham and Leicester.

And we'd have an even better squad if Mourinho stopped sidelining players.

Mourinho came in saying he loved our squad and that we can win the Premier League next year. Then he brought 9 new players. But now the squad isn't good enough.

He would struggle with Emirates Marketing Project's squad that is how far he has fallen. He'd be complaining about Stones and trying to hit Jesus with long balls. Sterling would be sidelined for the crime of being flash while black. Foden would be on loan in the Championship. Half of the City fanbase would have bought into Mourinho's nonsense. "How can we win when DeBruyne doesn't do anything defensively".

I'd argue that he has done terrible with his tactics as there aren't any and no system. He has slated players in public for making mistakes. Dele is the obvious example. He makes a mistake and about 90 seconds after he lost the ball a goal is conceded. He's dropped and not seen again. Other players have been treated poorly too. If players know they are going to be dropped for making a risky pass then they are going to take the safe option, it's nothing to do with meteorology.
There's a million threads and arguments on Poch, he's gone, not getting into that.

Mourinho doesn't have a system. I'm not happy with the results but when I was earlier in the season I still wasn't happy with the lack of a system beyond a low block and get it to Kane.
Yes, every manager wants to get the ball to their most dangerous player, but they do it with a proper plan and it is not their only plan.
Open to the truth? In your opinion, it's the truth, but it's only your opinion. We have a squad that is a top 4 squad. We've one weak area and that is CB.
We've a good midfield and arguably th7e best forward line in the league.

We may have a good forward line but they miss lot of chances, I've lost count of the times we've had openings and blown them when scoring would have had puts us in winning positions.

A big difference is their defenders don’t consistently make basic errors.
Regardless of your system (not really sure what United is TBH but do agree with the principle), if teams know you have certain olayers who cannot do the basics teams will know they have a chance against you

Thanks. And if Inrecall Mourinho got us up to a whisker of fourth. We bottled it ( again) at home to Chelsea when Son got sent off and we lost 2-0. A win would have taken is intontge top four. Where have I heard that before .........

Cannot remember the last time we finished outside the top 4 before last season.

I would argue that Jose has done well to get these guys play as they have with so many variations to his tactics. The players are scared of being treated like crap and dropped if they make a mistake? Where do we start from with this. Firstly several of the players make mistakes and Jose has persisted with them as much as he can. Secondly says a lot about the mental strengths of the players. Was that the same reason they were stinking up the place under Pochettino? Mauricio also made them scared and wear diapers. Thirdly Jose has a system - intact he has several variations. However you are not happy with the results hence the statements. Every manager would like the ball to get to their most dangerous player. Do you think Barcelona try not to pass to Messi? At times I read the arguments and I feel it is emotionally regurgitated. Yes we have every right to be upset with performance but we must also be open to the truth. We don't have a top 4 squad.

Yes, we do.

I think the most damning tactical indictment is when you consider that he said most of them are not goalscorer other than Kane and Son, thus we have a paltry number of goals from midfield when we have the players to score more if we were to calibrate a system which involved them more and had them in front of the ball on a more regular basis.

Bergwijn, Lamela and Lucas all have a good 6-10 goals a season in them, and I think NDombele could hit those numbers too. If there was any relationship or consistent deployment of Dele, he'd be 12 a season minimum (even now, in the sporadic games he plays, he gets into great positions only for rust and confidence to betray him). A fit LoCelso (which in fairness he hasn't had) could chip in 6-8 too.

We should be in the CL spots, he's a big reason for why we aren't. And £15m without a performance clause, depends on what paper you read and who you believe, none of us know the truth.

One of our many problems imo is that the squad has been built all wrong.
Not only do we still have players from at least three managers ago, who all played totally different styles of football, but there are players brought in on a punt in the hope that we can make money on them.
We lucked out that Poch saw a way to build a team and wrung every last drop out of it, but it obvious to anyone watching that that team was dieing and needed a rebuild.
I find it difficult to believe Jose couldn't see that, and that if he was that confident Levy didn't insist on a performance clause in his contract.
But its spurs and nothing really surprises me any more.

They don't miss lots of chances, they outperform their Xg. The issue is that the only game plan is to get it to Kane and to a lesser extent Son to score goals. If they have an off-game or Son is in one of his cold periods, like now, the goals start to dry up. We have no system that sees midfielders arriving in the box like Dele used to do and contribute to our scoring.

They don't out perform "their" xG, they outperform general xG, which they should, because they are better than 99% of the players contributing to xG.

And its seems that Kane and sons first and second thought is to look for each other and exclude others who may be in a better position.
Now the record has been broken that will hopefully be put to bed.

Whilst we may have a better squad than Spammers and Leicester, they’ve played far fewer games so at least Rodgers and Moyes haven’t had to run their players into the ground during this compressed season.

Tottenham: 19 cup games played (13 EL + 3 LC + 3 FAC)

Leicester: 13 cup games played (8 EL + 1 LC + 4 FAC)

West Ham: 6 cup games played (3 LC + 3 FAC)

Read back over this thread. Simply not true. the only times have been to respond to you and a couple of others. Why don't you focus on evaluating the performance of the current manager? That'd be far more interesting.

No need to look back mate, we all know you are a lover of Poch. Nothing wrong with that as i was also one who thought he should have been given to the end of that season to see if he could sort the mess.
