Everton

This feels different this season. Although it’s very early days there are some important structural differences to previous seasons. Lovely midfield balance with rotation options. Calvert Lewin scoring, Yerri Mina looking imperious at the back. They are a top striker and goal keeper away from being a regular top 4 side or even title contenders imho. Add to this that Arsenal, Chelsea and ManUtd are no great shakes alongside the “Ancelotti factor” I think they are serious top 4 contenders this season.

it also illustrates that when you have money, you can be anything. We’ve seen it before with CIty and Chelsea coming from nowhere. With Usmanov/moshiri money Everton have to be taken seriously.

I don't think so, they have a problem we had for a decade.

First 11 is quite decent, beyond that .. not so much
- Goalkeeper is mediocre at best
- James hasn't had a full season of form in 5+ years
- Calvert Lewin looks good, but so many strikers have a little purple patch (that's what makes Kane different, consistency)

The compression of this season is likely to kill them, injuries/loss of form or fatigue to James and/or Calvert Lewin would be a huge blow.

Can they push for top 6? yes, absolutely, top 4? they would have to do better than all of us/United/Leicester/Scum/Wolves

Good post we will have to see. I think they are about equal with us, on first 11 but ok don't yet have the squad depth. The problem is they have money and a top coach. The 2 together will bring them up very quickly. We've seen it before with City and Chelsea. I think they are better than the other teams vying for a top 4 place.
