Harry Kane MBE

I don't think you can guarantee that they will win the league or the CL over the next couple of years any more than you can say the same for PSG, Barca or Real.

Is it very likely, yes, is it definite, no.

Pep might be close to the end of his cycle there too, he does have a habit of just walking away.
Nothing is definite but it’s a reasonable assumption to say that city will win 5 league titles of 10.
The CL is a noose around Their neck but I’m sure a top player would take the league

he certainly could earn more but with his sponsor money and wages he is meant to be on around £400k a week here (half salary, half endorsements).
Where does he go to win those medals?
In England it city, in France its PSG and both could afford him
Spain now?
Italy now?
I’ll say what I’ve said already United are not a sure fire bet to win anything. Chelsea are more likely but that isn’t gonna happen, and neither is pool
Add in that plenty of fans of other clubs think he ain’t all that and you have a weird mix of his value being very very high which ok it’s who can afford him, vs who he would see as progress for him

But they are all more likely to win things than we are. We have won two trophies in the last 25 years. Not sure how you can to any other conclusion. No club is guaranteed to win trophies but history and experience would tell you they are in a better position than us.

I think people are way too binary/black and white on this one

- Kane is likely quite happy here, he is settled with family, doesn't seem to be the type of guy that wants the bright lights off the field
- From all intents, he has quite a bit of power in the club, he gets paid well (especially with bonuses)

Now does that mean he won't consider leaving? = obviously not, but

- Clubs that would be worth it him leaving for and/or are able to pay for him and his wages (if he leaves it would probably be for a bit more) make a very small list
- The most likely one in UK (City), Pep isn't enamoured with out and out strikers (he's never been a real fan of Aquero) and while Kane is more than that, point still applies.

I think Kane isn't actively looking, it's an opportunistic thing, if one of perhaps 4 clubs in Europe come with a boat load of cash in a covid world, possible but outside of that, unlikely.

We made a CL final note recently than any of them
Also finished consistently higher in the league
And also lost more semis I think
I mean if you want to look at 25 years worth of history then you have to add in other teams
Players looking at short term gain have to look at short term results
In that case in the prime it’s 2 teams, city and pool

Mostly the same arguments as Bale back in the day then :)

I agree
It’s who would want him vs who could afford him vs who would he go to
Money no object he walks into every team in this country
But money is a BIG thing that stops it happening in most cases
The guy would be daft not to have options open

A lot of hot air.
The ITV England coverage is just dreadful.
Lee Dixon is such a jealous little bitch when it comes to Harry, I had to laugh.

Not really (and I get the smiley)

- Bale left as soon as he hit his top level, Harry hit that 3+ seasons ago
- Bale (rightly or wrongly) is more of a "brand" than Harry

Again, if he wanted to leave, if it was that important to him, really 2 years ago would have been the right time

Kane is an ambitious guy, and money is important but he would easily earn more if he went to one of the big boys whilst actually winning things too. He is one of the best forwards in the world, look at the achievements of other top forwards Lewandowski,Suarez,Benzema etc and Kane in comparison, it’s actually quite embarrassing that someone so good has won naff all and Kane himself will know this. Read what Defoe said yesterday about winning things if you don’t think it’s that important to players. Kane is my favourite ever Spurs player along with Bale, so I don’t want him sold at all but he’s definitely approaching a cross roads in his career and he deserves to achieve much more than just maybe breaking Greaves record so if someone comes up with stupid money I wouldn’t begrudge him for leaving or the club for selling....

Pretty much sums it up for me as well, he is too good to finish his time as a footballer without ever winning anything.

We were a good team 2 years ago.

Ok, look at recent history then. All of the big 6 have won trophies i.e. more than one. The rest of the big 6 will all spend to make sure they give themselves the best possible chance to win. We’ve been a better team than most a lot of Poch’s reign but for whatever reason, we just don’t look like we can get over the line.

Hey I agree
But United haven’t won a trophy since Jose and haven’t looked like wining one since
Chelsea sacked their manager 2 months ago as things weren’t going well
Arsenal have won trophies but we know that’s a none starter
That leaves city and pool
And I’m not sure that many do the top 6 will spend any more than us TBH. All teams other than city have financial issues, even Chelsea who I believe spent a lot last summer to gain traction during Covid. We will see this summer though what happens with those teams.

I do agree we can’t get it over the line. It’s a mentality issue IMO

Exactly, so to your previous post.

Even at it's best Kane might have thought "I could win one or two trophies here", but if he was of the mindset that he wants bucket loads of trophies before the end of his career, Spurs wasn't and isn't the place to be (never has been), so again to me, if trophies were a priority for Kane, he should have left 2 years ago.
