So, what happened today?

You get an automated rejection email for an internal role? That doesn't sound very "Talent Team*" friendly.
(*One of the current buzzwords for the recruitment bit of HR ).

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. Is it worth getting feedback, or do you think they already had someone in mind and it was just going through the motions?

Yeh it's mad isn't it but that's how they do things! Have asked for feedback, but it's a bit "meh" now really given the role has gone. I know the interview went well and we had a good rapport, so perhaps it was just going through the motions as you say because a candidate was already identified.

It's slim pickings at the moment with the pandemic, but it's so frustrating finding an internal role because so often, they know who they're bringing in, but they have to post the role on the internal portal. I'd rather just have them not bother!

Was looking into Umbrella's yesterday
Used some take home pay calculators and there was a huge difference between being a limited company and being through the Umbrella (obviously as you have to do your own tax etc with a limited company)

I've been recommended this firm

https://www.paystream.co.uk/

They also do lots of other services like Pension salary sacrifices and your expenses/tax returns, sick and holiday paid too
Umbrellas are all a much of a muchness
I’m with brooks on my current tole
I also have 2 limited companies set up (1 for consultancy and 1 for property investment)

So had a second round interview (internal) last week and thought it went really well, got an automated email today to say i have not made it through. Pretty gutting as desperate for a new role, and whilst this was not my no 1 preference, the role looked good. Generally am good at interviewing so a bit of a kick on the balls.

Waiting to hear for another internal role but the longer that takes, makes me think there's a reason. back to the drawing board.
Are you only looking internally?
One thing I’ve learned, and encouraged my teams to do is interview as much as they can
It’s a skill and the hardest thing to do right from both sides

I've used paystream in the past and they do pay quite quickly which was a plus

Put a message on my linkedin today about when I leave my company in August, etc
Had calls all afternoon from recruitment agencies and I've got 2 interviews next week lined up
One is a role very similar to what I do currently at a new start up syndicate, so an open book to set it up how I wanted
Decent salary and incentives and company equity too
Decent start !!

Got my brick together today. Following the birth of the 2nd one back in Nov, i realised i'm all over the place with car insurance, home insurance, gas and electric bills etc. No idea what's due for renewal and when, so sorted all that out, switched energy suppliers etc. Amazing how bad old people get screwed over as so many don't know about the ease of switching these things, some energy firms must really be raking it in.

It really tinkles me off having to do that dance for each thing every year.

Big few days for me...getting my jab tomorrow...having a mri scan on my knee, though had to go private but needs must and most importantly thank ghod, having a haircut today, the Bill Bailey look isn't doing anything for me anymore lol....

I'm always on the case with that
Sorted out home contents insurance today, £97, renewal price was £265 for the same coverage
My car insurance renewal wanted £195, I got it for £117

They really are. It's sad for me at work seeing it but, at the same time, really uplifting to help bring about positive change.

Thanks 4 sharing this! Lots of my favourite DJ'S. Tenaglia currently playing, one of my biggest inspirations. I once had the pleasure of warming up for Danny Tenaglia at Es Paradis in Ibiza. One of my best nights ever!
Music is the answer!
