I think he's much more than that, people are still thinking of the Lucas stuck out wide, where it was hard work but mostly ineffective.

In the middle, he brings tempo to the team, he presses high and is directly running at CBs. 9 goals and 7 assists also mean he's being effective.

Yesterday he was effective, created 4 chances and got an assist - mostly this season he has not been effective in possession - average chance creation of 1 per 90, half that of Bale and Dele and on a similar level to Bergwijn & Lamela. More games like last night and i might change my opinion but until then he's still the hardworking but ineffective player that kills attacks and hampers team play that flatters to decieve because he's busy

Whilst I think he has been more useful and he’s certainly not a player I want to be overly negative about )my motm yesterday) I think there are two reasons he’s looked better recently:

1 - by playing centrally there are less blind alleys for him to run into
2 - by getting fouled a little more , especially yesterday it takes away the chance of him being responsible for an ineffective or lack of pass!

We probably have him, Lamela and Lo Celso who stand out for their work rate at the detriment of a final ball or big goal return and Dele, Bale and Ndombele who are more decisive with the ball but not in their work rate!

It’s all speculation really but reading into some of his interviews and the fact he’s been dropped completely, it seems like Winks is a problem.

Personally I think Winks is a talent in the right team. Mourinhos team isn’t the right team for him. That doesn’t excuse him stirring it if that’s what he’s been doing though.

Wouldnt be surprised if Danny Rose was involved too, not like he has got history for speaking his mind per say.

I think you have to give players at least a year.

Unless they are called Joe Hart.
Why? It’s not like he has come in from an overseas league and needs to adapt to the pace of PL football. In another year’s time he is 30 years old and probably commands no transfer fee at all. Sometimes you have to a realise early that you’ve made a mistake and quickly rectify.

He was brilliant in his first full season for us. Scored vital goals in big matches. Probably fair to say he’s been inconsistent since then but he’s been excellent recently and absolutely deserves his place ahead of Bale and Alli. They are both better footballers than Moura but neither have consistently shown it for years.

No qualms with him being in the team atm, like i said he's working hard and full of energy which sets him apart

It’s a disgrace Lloris isn’t in this poll...

I'd agree with that too. He has become increasingy reluctant to take control of his area, and he has never been captain material for me.

I'm fed up with seeing him standing in the tunnel before big games looking like he's just been told that Hannibal Lecter is babysitting his youngest.

Jose wouldn't tell him before the game, he might have had a message from MP though.

He's had purple patches in the past, times when even his decision making has looked better, as it does now.

Time will tell if he can keep it up now or not, if he can we have a real player on our hands. But a bit early to be saying for sure.

Right now having players that at least show up consistently mentally is very valuable. It puts down a marker for some of the other lads and forces some of them off the team sheet.

We have given far to many players far to long before moving on. Historically bentley was the prime one but in this current team Aurier, Sanchez and Sissoko were crap in their first season and the best you could say about them in their 4th season is they can just about do a job as a squad player or one of their fans might say they have improved.

They are still cack though.
