*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Burnley ***

Yes Sanchez was excellent today and made one or two critical tackles. But let's not get carried away just yet. Because even today, every time he headed the ball it still went straight up in the air like it always does, and though his passing was better than usual he still misplaced a few out-balls that came straight back.
You know I really do agree that poor headed clearances have caused us problems this season (Sanchez and Davies in particular) but today I thought it was not an issue and any that maybe didn’t have purchase were because he was at full stretch. One swallow doesn’t make a summer and all that but for me today he didn’t make any errors but also some crucial interventions.

Have to say Mourinho's team selection was spot on today.
First choice full backs, a genuine threat from the right. Areas unfortunately we don’t have any real competition for at the moment.

He’s still very random with his final execution but Moura did well today, perhaps his work rate as a 10 is to mitigate Bale defensively and playing centrally is forcing him to have a little think about what he’s doing as opposed to head down and run when he’s wide?

More of the same in the two upcoming London derbies and we could find ourselves looking down at West Ham before they play again

That central position for Moura does upset opponents as he can get past that midfield block and cause panic, just need him to make right decisions.

Fvck me, who sh!t in your dinner? Give the guy a break! He had a good game and you still manage to complain about the way he laced up his boots
Some people are so boringly predictable. Everything has to be either totally black or totally white.

Read me post again, I acknowledged he had an excellent game and that he made some crucial tackles, but get real, his overall performance was far from faultless.

He is still basically the same Sanchez, very poor at heading clear and very erratic at distribution under pressure. I will be the first to cheer and acknowledge I'm wrong when he eradicates those two faults from his game.

fudge me, can we play Burnley at home every week? :D

First time I've felt properly good about this team for a long while. Burnley let us play, but I think they didn't expect just how bloody good Bale is at keeping possession and playing through balls. They stuck tight to Kane all the time, but they stood off Bale, and they paid for that with the second and fourth goals.

After watching Lucas, Lamela and Bergwijn run in straight lines down blind alleys and struggle to keep the ball, watching Bale stroke it about, beat Burnley's lumbering battlers with ease, play beautifully weighted balls in behind and around his marker...it gives me a bit of hope in the intrinsic ability of football to thrill, to excite and to amaze, every weekend.

In the slowly warming sunshine of an early spring morning, we got our Tottenham back, if only for 90 minutes - full of verve, style, energy and happiness.

Not a single bad thing to say about any of them today. Mourinho, f*cking please - play Bale from now on.:D
Exactly my thoughts as well, and it brings a fair bit of hope. It looked like Bale is enjoying football again! He looks free, unrestrained and confident! What a difference!

Nice to get a little feel good atmosphere around the team

This was exactly the game we, the players and the manager needed badly

- Off the back of a midweek 4-0
- Just about entire squad fit
- Burnley came out the gates too aggressive and we were clinical
- When Reguilon pushed up, 5 attacking players
- Sanchez as others mentioned had his best game in a long time, not flawless but big step up, tried to be more commanding for sure.

Job done, 3 points in bag, chance to build some momentum.

Typical, only the second game I've not seen in ages, after sitting through some dross I miss what sounds like our best game for long time.
Good to hear some praise for sanchez who I've been sticking up for recently.

Feels like since the Chelsea game we’ve been building up to this. From an attacking perspective we’ve been much better, but defensively still not quite getting it right. But the confidence will return and to have Bale back on song in the Spurs shirt is a thing of beauty.
Dele will continue his comeback I have no doubt. Many reasons to be positive going into the end of the season

Sorry mate, you know what that means?

- For the good of the team, you need to sit out the season

/s

I've been off work since Thursday, was supposed to get some much needed down time,
roped into helping family Friday, day gone,
in law visit Saturday, day gone,
Today was easy day, football, few beers, glass of wine and a nice dinner. Brother calls 11 am, can I borrow your garden shredder. Arrived at 12.30, left after 6. Couldn't shut him up.
Think he needed someone to talk to, so I'm not complaining, but it was frustrating listening to my phone ping with all the goal alert.
Will try and track the game down online, hope that doesn't count.

- Yes, we played well

Everyone has covered it, but I wanted to add again a special mention for Davo and also Moura, who for me had his best game in months. Kane's movement and energy plus Bale paved the way for him to be more effective IMO. And yes, two fit attacking Fbs makes a huge difference. Lots to smile about this weekend, long may it continue...
