Jose Mourinho - SACKED

I know you will think I am crazy mate but I genuinely believed we would be title challengers this season. Great signings building on a decent summer transfer window in in 2019 put alongside a manager with title winning pedigree. With everything that is going on I have found it hard to get my head around football this year but there was a part of me that felt excited. I am gutted with the way this season has panned out. I am sure most of Jose’s critics on the board who are proper, sensible Spurs supporters with opinions I respect immensely, feel the same whatever their opinion of the manager.

Not crazy, little optimistic.

- Jose has to own the results, we haven't adapted fast enough and it's probably taken too long to get Ndombele & Bale up to being part of team.
- I do think we bought a lot of good players, just not the player. How we would look if it was Skrinar instead of Rodon?

I'm not sure he will last the season (the old cliché, he probably has 5-6 games to save his job) , but I give him the best odds of figuring out how to make the final count in April.

Generally I have always liked Jose for the way he doesn’t give 2 hoots about convention but I don’t like the way he publicly calls out players like Dele or Bale and it is not the right way to manage in any industry.

Has he really said anything terrible about either of them? and I'm being serious, the last video I just posted he's at fudging pains to say Bale has to do absolutely nothing to convince him of anything and never has, it's about getting him able to play 90 minutes. Before last week's Europa game I think his comment was there is always room in his side for players of Dele and Bale's quality?

I'm not sure people actually listen to Jose, he's refused to take credit for Ndombele's improvement, said it's all the player (interesting for a self-serving ego maniac), his statement was around people who are not playing is his door is open but he isn't going to go get them, they have to come through the door and show him they want it, and if they do, then the good work done was theirs. Not really sure how that is much different from Poch's you sign a contract to train not to play?

As I've said before, really didn't pay a ton of attention to him managing other teams in terms of what he said in press conferences but I'm genuinely failing to see this odious person that constantly deflects, throws people under the bus, says bricky things? sometimes he's snarky and sarcastic but really over the top?

Anyone who takes anything any manager says seriously deserves everything get.
It's a duty most of them fulfil grudgingly and you can't blame them for messing with the press when you consider the nonsense most of them write.

Well what's hilarious is the video today, he says something exactly along those lines.
- Most brick said by managers post match should not be taken at face value
- Better interviews are pre-match

It always amazes me how s ome fans get their knickers in a twist when a manger says things straight after a game has finished. Not sure how many of those fans have played competitive sport but just having finished a game is not the best time to get anyone to give a thoughtful answer.

As for the video that Raziel has posted above i fail to see how anyone could find anything that Jose said there to be wrong/unfair, but i am sure some will TRY and find something.

Watch the video 3 post prior mate

I left Chelsea as champion -> context was he was admitting in the past he often created his own problems, including off the pitch MENTIONED HE AS A CHAMPION
I will be in Tottenham's history -> context, he just spent at least 5 minutes explaining that the results were not good enough, however he felt the club was supportive, he and the team had to work harder for the right result, and if they do that he's confident we can turn it around, hence he closed on he expects to be in Tottenham's history for the right reasons PUT HIMSELF IN THE FRAME AS A HISTORIC MANAGER

His last point? you and the media just proved it, there was zero fudging controversial in that 20 minute interview and it some how gets turned into "egotistical self-service"? Klopp or whoever can say genuinely treasure cave-ish brick but that's cool. Said it before, Jose is the media villain of the PL, sad when we support that narrative. SAID HE GETS TREATED DIFFERENTLY TO OTHERS TO APPEAR TO BE A VICTIM.

He's a narcissist. I will not deny that I dislike him. I don't like the football his teams play, and I don't like his narcissistic personality. Remember how poorly he treated the Cheat$ki doc and countless other players. However smiley he can be, underneath is a narcissist. I have tons of experience with people who have that personality disorder, and most of them are incapable of change.

Let's be honest the only reason why top level professionals beat the other 99% is because they have this trait. Some hide it better.

Ive seen a weird rise of "fans" wanting us to lose games to get rid of Jose?

What is wrong with people?

How will having no European football help with the money issues we have?

Why would you want us to go out of the EL with the prize of a CL spot?

My 2 cents:

Obviously all Spurs fans would want us to win every game but I think its more people saying that there is a silver lining when we lose given that it takes us one step closer to the end of him. And we already have this league season largely ruined so better not to ruin next season too and potentially go two years without European football.

From my perspective, I don't see Jose succeeding at Spurs given all the negative traits which have preceded his last two roles are now being shown at Spurs. Plus we won't be able to provide him with the £400m which he spent at Utd.

If you take the position that him failing and leaving Spurs in the next 12 months or so as inevitable, then its better that you move on sooner. His last 6-12 months at Utd seemed so bad with player relationships, poor football, increasing wranglings with the media etc - its horrible to think of our club being dragged down the toilet like that too. The thought of our image etc getting worse and worse, and the acrimony which he has brought before being replicated at Spurs over the next year is just awful. I feel we're moving into that period.

I think it depends on your starting point - there's some who still believe that Mourinho can be a long-term success and that will form their views; there are others which don't.

Happy to admit that I was wrong if he's still here in 2-3 years and has brought top 4 finishes and trophies!!!

(note: my starting point when he arrived was always accepting him, but given the baggage, if he doesnt deliver trophies and success then he is nothing)

Mate, the media is saying exactly that .. it's clickbait brick at it's best

West Ham will end where they usually do, outside of European spots but safe, and yes vs. recent years that is an improvement but comparing Moyes to Jose is a stretch to be kind. I put Leeds and Wolves there because they are both sides that I wouldn't consider a walkover for midlevel sides, on their day they can cause upsets, in West Ham's next 8 games, I saw one easy one.

Losing in the league is on Mourinho, he said he can't fix everything on his own, not he can't fix things. Not interested in a defence of Jose conversation because he has to be accountable for results, but to make an issue of those two statements? he needs a better CB, and the ones he has needs to stop falling asleep once a match (an issue they have had way before him), his record suggest his coaching is pretty good (and it was a prompted question btw).
I’ll tell you something.... I’d expect West Ham to get more points in that run of games than I would us right now...

I think any manager would have struggled this season with the defensive players we currently have, as long as we play some form of attacking football and only occasionally revert to the low block when absolutely necessary then I think he should be given the opportunity to complete this season and depending on the results be given a bit more time and the resources to fix the defence and then go form there.

Without a crystal ball or the gift of pre-sight no one knows what's going to happen, we could end up with 2 cups and a CL spot, who would bemoan him staying then?

When you consider what's posted on here after a game, the words 'pot', 'kettle' and 'black' spring to mind...

This is absolute flimflam, Poch style at it's best has
- Yes, FB's forward with a DM falling back to cover
- Pressing game, typically with a higher line
- Possession game

Where Poch's game failed in my opinion was there wasn't much in the final 3rd movements, honestly our strategy was get to Eriksen and hope for the best, or have Toby hoof direct. Kane, Son & Dele did the rest (similar to how it is now minus Dele)

Compare that to a Pool or even Leicester where there are clearly motions to get the ball (quite direct) to front runners.
We had VERY clear patterns to progress the ball up the pitch under Poch. Sometimes I actually felt it was a little too formulaic. If you went back far enough on here you’d probably find posts where I explain Poch’s patterns to progress the ball.

Seems to be a bit of smoke coming out at the moment between the above article, the articles saying the club admire Nagelsmann/Rodgers and another article I saw saying the club are concerned but willing to give Jose the season.

Seems like momentum is building - he needs some wins soon. Lose the next couple (Burnley and Fulham) and the pressure will ratchet up massively.
Lose the next couple and we will be that team you see every year that is right up the top of the league early on but ends up in a relegation battle....

Sooner he goes sooner a new guy replaces him and does a better job than 1 ppg - so we'd have a better chance of getting that important European spot?

Not saying that's where i am but the logic is pretty simple

I don't normally watch a whole Press Conference but don't see how that could have been any more positive.

Seems clear to me Jose had a longer term plan; focus on defence first and hopefully win a cup this year, then with this defensive foundation move to a higher level next season. The prob is we have been brick defending which has thrown a spanner in the works.

Don't really see what else he can say, was very respectful of everyone.

Lol. Someone should tell the club that the next 2 matches have such important meaning for the next few years.

being picky, its 'gilt edged' - refers back to days when government bonds (paper based) had a golden edge to the indicate that they were very safe and certain to be repaid
Yes, indeed. Gilt edged basically means ‘guaranteed’.... Our XG of (under) 1 shows that we had zero gilt edged chances on Sunday.
