Daniel Levy - Chairman

I just checked Poch's 50th game in charge at Spurs, 8 of the starting XI were from the AVB/Sherwood squad and a further 5 were on the bench...

Another excuse we can cross off the list :)

Said it before the same players who helped get Poch the sack are still playing like brick now, i counted 8 yesterday that were part of the squad who sucked under Poch. It looked at the start of this season that Jose had got them playing again but alas they have sucked again.

Right, OK, but at a certain point its one person's fault.
One manager asked for refreshment of the squad and some players moved on, another has possibly done the same (Mourinho's contract won't allow him to speak clearly I'm sure).
So IF this is THE reason (and I am not convinced it is the main one TBH), then inextricably the blame lies with one person?

I vote for @scaramanga !

Love you, fam.

At this crucial moment for the club. I can't help but remember Levy's two most revelatory moments in the documentary.
Watching the Son goal and calling Mourinho one of the two world class managers in the Premier League.
The man has very little football knowledge and should not be making football decisions.

If ever there was a time to bring back a properly empowered Director of Football, it is now.
Get someone in. Not "I don't like January because it difficult" Steve Hitchen, instead someone capable of working when things get difficult.
They take a few months, and make a decision on who the next manager is in the summer.
Levy has had his shot of picking managers and failed over and over again.
Even he should recognise that. He's appointed 8 with a 75% failure rate.

The 1-1 draw with Goons in 2016 was Poch’s 50th PL game, according to https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mau...in_id=148&liga=&wettbewerb_id=GB1&trainer_id=

Pochettino’s first 50 PL games at Spurs
Won:24 Drawn:13 Lost:13 For:78 Against:63

Mourinho’s first 50 PL games at Spurs
Won:23 Drawn:12 Lost:15 For:80 Against:57

@Bedfordspurs

His 2nd season was 15/16 and his 50th league game would have been the 12th game of that season, no? The 1-1 draw away to
Arsenal on 8/11/15 - the one Steve's posted is from a year later.

I made a mistake though, 4 subs not 5 were at the club before Poch arrived.

Fwiw I'm not trying to compare the managers just trying to show that dealing with overhang from previous squads isn't really an excuse.
What stands out though in the teams is the dead wood wasn’t there in Poch 50th game
He has got rid of his former vice captains by then.

Yeah of course - he done what was required.

He didn't give Adebayor Kaboul and Lennon new contracts - he had long replaced them in the team by this point.

He did make them vice captains though
So he thought they could help him
And then found out they were bad apples
Kane and mason had a scrap with two of them. I’d love to see that fight now

I do think the contract thing is a red herring
I mean if we didn’t give out those contracts the players would have left for free leaving a bigger hole arguably.
Now they have some value to the club but could be key go for free of the club desired (and they were wanted)

He did, but where were they 50 games later? Frozen out/replaced in the team - options available to any manager.

Yep
It was a big thing Poch did
I guess we don’t have the bad apples here of the same type
I don’t believe anyone is rebelling behind the scenes for example
Not the bad apples are just rotten players that need refreshing. And clearly there had been a huge under estimation of how to get rid of them

I'm not going to argue the finer details mate, bad apples v rotten apples whatever is by the by - each manager coming in to a team has to work with what he's got to some degree and in this case we're talking similar level of churn for each. You either make it work or you don't

Yep
You have to make it work or you fail

Yeah that’s what I wondered when he posted that team

Ah apologies, posted the wrong 1-1 drawn with Goons

What a formidable team we had back then...
