Dele Alli

Fair enough mate, but go look at how bloated United, Scum and other squads are

- Buying the right players is tough
- But dumping players is even harder, especially if they are on decent wages

7 senior players +couple of youth players is the most I think we have ever done in any window, at risk of beating the dead horse .. to expect to double that in a covid window?

Prioritize -> CB -> 2nd/challenging keeper -> ST -> CM, anything beyond that is bonus ..
I’m no mathematician but I’m pretty sure that 1GK, 2CBs, 1 CM and 1CF adds up to 5?

We'll have to disagree mate re Dele. Yes Lamela had a better game, you could argue by how much, but he had a better game.

- Bale, yes, he's showing it's fitness and time, it's coming back for him.
- In addition, Bale was a superstar for a decade, he won everything mate, to bracket him and Dele anywhere close is crazy.

Dele's path out is simple

- He's going to play mid table Austrian side on Wednesday, dominate them, embarrass them, help us run up a cricket score

Because Lucas has and does show up against lower opposition, so will Lamela and he (Dele) needs to show them up, if he does, Jose will give him a chance (see Aurier, Ndombele, etc.)

We will, indeed, have to disagree.

Dele's path is blocked by an obdurate force who has no interest in him.He wanted him gone from the club, DL did not. I could feel sorry for JM, as I believe every manager whoever they are should be backed 100%, and it is clear Dele still being here is not his choice. Anty use he makes of him is forced and not desired. That is massively problematic...and a shame.

p.s. you'll have noted that for many months I hinted at Dele's issues and did not exonerate him of responsibility. Having said that, we are in a situation where we need our smartest players on the pitch, as well as our most instinctually brilliant. I believe Dele falls in that mould.

They’re not though....
Davies plays the game at a snails pace. Him covering Regulion is a huge drop off and means we need to completely change the way we play - always a terrible thing.
Lamela, horribly one footed and injured for half the season. Not reliable at all. Cut loose.
Doherty, slow, poor defensively, cannot dominate his flank. As with Regulion/Davies a drop off in quality that means we need to change the way we play. Cut loose and bring in a player more similar to Aurier (admittedly a lower priority than the left hand side however).
Vinicius. Will cost us valuable transfer fee money to keep (perhaps quite a bit of our budget). I don’t think we can afford to be wasting it on him.

If JM makes the summer, I think we will go for Ings big-time.

Indeed Raziel, squad management is a lot of balls to juggle. Managing people and emotions while getting things done is not so straight forward.

Where Mourinho has my sympathy is that this is Covid and fudge knows the effects it is having. Where he doesn't is that he came in saying he was happy with the squad and repeated this. Was he lying? If so, no bueno. If he wasn't, then he has to own it. Obviously that truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. And as ever, if Levy has not backed him as he wanted, then ultimately it sits on Levy yet again. the manager must always be supported, whoever they are.

Yep, that was my point, prioritize and keep it to that, doable, anything more is nice, but hard to see.
We can sign those players and still get rid of the trash and it doesn't even have to be 1 in 1 out. We can do 1 in 2 out in some circumstances.

Davies can go with no replacement as we already have Reguillion and Sessengnon coming back.

Ideally two CBs would be great but if not two then 1 quality player to start with 1 of the existing to bring that player's level up. 2 CBs could potentially be released but more likely 1.

Sissoko and Winks out the door with Skipp coming back and the addition of possibly Sabitzer or similar.

Somehow sell Hart or Lloris and bring in a new keeper.

Move on 2 of Lamela, Moura, Bergwijn and Bale and replace with an AM or if 3 are moved on replace with an AM and a left sided attacker.

So that's 7 possibly up to 8 outgoings with only 4 paid incomings or 5 paid incomings if we move on 8 players. The squad gets leaner with no perceptible drop in quality. Arguably it improves if the CB hits the ground running and Lo Celso can stay fit.

This is where you and I struggle mate, you are a dreamer (not a bad thing), I'm much more pragmatic...

I think this is a nutshell comment and one which fairly captures the support split. For those of us like Finney and myself, the biggest issue to reconcile is the we dreamt and got so, so close from a low bar, yet we tore it up to go short-term, pragmatic trophy winner; that isn't working either. The frustration is real.
FWIW I think he should stay to try and get the ultimate bail-out of Europa League. It is his virtual last chance saloon, yet it is the one he knows better than most, so we have to believe he can do it, even if we don't really. Where there's life there's hope. But again, I think you nailed it with that comment mate...

We will, indeed, have to disagree.

Dele's path is blocked by an obdurate force who has no interest in him.He wanted him gone from the club, DL did not. I could feel sorry for JM, as I believe every manager whoever they are should be backed 400%, and it is clear Dele still being here is not his choice.

Steff, what sources / connections to the club do you have? (As specific as you’re able to be!)

I thought he had improved then we had that absolutely ridiculous pelanty he gave away
Unfortunately that’s always been part of his game and always likely to happen
Regardless of who his manager is at the time
I’ve been one of his highest critics
This season he has been up there with the very best right backs
Yep he did really hurt us that day. It was needless and stupid but he has generally been very very good this season IMO

Where are all the Mourinho fanboys complaining about the cheek of Dele Alli trying things now?

"He should have laid that off rather than go for a low percentage opportunity"

If Alli had spent the last year listening to Mourinho he would be Jake Livermore right now. Mourinho ruined Joe Cole. I'm glad Alli has resisted him. That goal was a kick up the arse for Mourinho in the way out.
