Harry Kane MBE

Another question mate.

If we lose the Carabou Cup Final, what would that say?

We lose another final, we have lost a lot of crunch games over the last decade or so. Lets instead of thinking doom and gloom ( which a lot on here are doing at this moment) lets try and remain positive.

Oh I agree PL, I agree!

FWIW I don't think losing that final to Emirates Marketing Project would necessarily constitute a "lack of winning mentality" or be a direct reflection on Mourinho's work in perhaps not being able to instill it either.

I will say, I am not sure any of it will be enough for Kane. Perhaps the only thing we have to our advantage there is his injury record versus what Levy would want for him.

I would be surprised if most ( or even any) Spurs fans expect us to beat City to be honest but as someone once said " its a funny old game".

As for Kane i have said a few times over the last couple of seasons that it would not surprise me to see him go, he's far to good to finish his playing days without trophys and unless we start doing that soon i could not blame him for taking the exit door.

Mate, I completely agree with your logic and I can also see Kane and Son running down their contracts like Eriksen did, but I wrote in another thread that people have a tendency in football to get carried away with form. I’m typically a realist when it comes to Spurs (some call me mr negative) but I do feel 1-2 smart signings could be the catalyst for us becoming challengers again. We may possibly need another manager but one big signing can lift a club and transform the team. If we offer enough money to Son I think there’s a chance he signs. He can always hand in a transfer request in 18 months if we are still hopeless and haven’t improved.
No player (or more pertinently player’s agent) is going to give all the cards back to Levy IMO.

And who can afford a £150m 28 year old

Their local government will probably find a way to bail Real out as usual.
They can’t anymore... their skint too due to COVID
What is working in Madrid’s favour is the building work is cracking in at some pace at the stadium as there playing in there reserves stadium

No wonder Perez is so keen on the Super League then.

Real Madrid would be in line to receive a cash injection of €583 million for joining the proposed new European Super League, which would explain Florentino Pérez's support for the project.

A combination of the injuries and the effect of covid on market - I don't think we'll see huge money signings for a while.
That’s why he won’t be sold IMO
Premium players haven’t decreased in value
Look at what Chelsea played for inferior players to give you a measure
His injuries are normal.
for example aguero has been injured every season which is why he has managed 1 golden boot yet his value never really decreased because of it

I think your first point is the really interesting one - I can't see him kicking up a fuss, but he'll probably be quite firm behind the scenes saying it's time to move.
He's given great service and we've given him great development.
Playing hardball to keep him is probably more damaging than letting him go for a reasonable fee.

The perception of his injuries and it starting to become a pattern moves him out of the top bracket for a buying club I think.

Man C and Bayern are the only clubs I can making it work and will probably involve a moderate fee plus a couple of players.
Equally I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay, but I don't think this is a time where Levy would play hardball like Modric, Berba, Bale.

We won’t IMO take other clubs players
I mean literally it’s taking seconds for our best player
We’re not poor, we’re a club with aspirations to be huge and those kind of moves just don’t happen
City are the only club who IMO could afford him but they will got for haaland and pay a premium on his buy out to get him sooner
Mbappe is the other player the big teams will target and I believe his contract is running down too... it expires next year
So I think we’re safe this summer with Kane myself
He won’t kick up a fuss as he will be focussed on the euros which kicks in this summer too which will not help transfers

Daily Fail saying Levy's slapped a £150 million price tag on Harry Kane and the Manchester clubs are all agog to snag him?

Fcuk that action. If Levy sells Kane, I'm done with Spurs. That's a business transaction too far.

Kane simply has to tell Levy that he'd like a move and refuse to sit down and discuss a new contract. Levy may have all the cards right now with Kane still having 3 years left on his contract but in a year's time that situation starts to reverse. I'm sure that Kane's agent will tell Levy that if he isn't sold before he gets to the final 18 months of Kane's contract then Kane will wait until he has 6 months left and then sign a pre contract deal for a bosman.

He has to think about it at some point. The key will be reinvesting the money properly (as for example Leicester have done when selling Kante, Maguire and Chilwell).
